    • Airway assist device (AAD) is provided. The device includes an upper AAD component and a lower AAD component. The upper AAD component includes and upper tooth guide connected to an upper plate. The upper AAD component further includes an upper force receiving plate. The AAD also includes a lower AAD component. The lower AAD component includes a lower tooth guide connected to a lower plate. The lower AAD component further includes a lower force receiving plate. The upper and lower AAD components are connected in a way that allows relative movement between the two components between a neutral position and a plurality of extended positions to protrude and distract a patient's mandible. A ratchet mechanism inhibits movement of the lower plate from any extended position. The ratchet mechanism may be manually disengaged to allow the lower AAD component to return to the neutral position. The lower AAD component includes a chin guide. The chin guide includes a chin support member that is engageable with a patient's chin.

    • A surgical hardware and software monitoring system and method allows for surgical planning while the patient is available for surgery, for example while the patient is being prepared for surgery so that the system may model the surgical site. Tracker obtains image information, with controller configured to spatially relate image information with previously obtained scan data. Fiducial reference is configured for removably attaching to a location proximate a surgical site. The fiducial reference is observable by the tracker so that software of the controller determines three-dimensional location and orientation based on scan data and image data of the surgical site, spatially relating the image information to the scan data to determine the three-dimensional location and the orientation of the fiducial reference. In one embodiment, the model may be used to track contemplated surgical procedures and warn the physician regarding possible boundary violations that would indicate an inappropriate location in a surgical procedure. In another embodiment, the monitoring system may track the movement of instruments during the procedure and in reference to the model to enhance observation of the procedure. In a further embodiment the monitoring system can be used to model and track the changes in the surgical site itself.

    • The present invention relates to the field of radiation therapy and radiation surgery. In particular, the invention relates to devices and methods for stereotactic medical procedures and it provides for repeated accurate positioning (fixation) of a patient, or a part of a patient, for carrying out medical procedures which are done at different times such as fractionated radiation therapy. Specifically, a patient fixation device for fixating a head of a patient relatively a treatment unit as a preparation for treatment or during treatment of the head is provided. The patient fixation device being is adapted to be attached to a stereotactic frame structure connected to the treatment unit. The attachment means is adapted to be releasably attached to corresponding attachment plates attached to teeth of the upper jaw or maxilla of the patient, each attachment plate being fixated to at least one tooth by means of an adhesive, wherein the attachment means allows removal from the attachment plates of the patient and re-attachment to the corresponding attachment plates of the patient with an identical orientation relatively the frame structure and the teeth of the patient.
