摘要： The present invention provides a method, system, and apparatus that can substantially reduce the recirculation of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) associated with the two-site, single-lumen cannulation approach. Actively-controlled flow regulators comprising balloon, occluder and reservoir can be individually or collectively equipped on the drainage and/or infusion cannulas to accomplish the goal of maximizing VV ECMO support efficacy. Three specific embodiments are introduced to illustrate the practical enforcement of the proposed blood flow control in reference to the heart rhythm, aiming at achieving the maximal reduction of oxygenated blood flow recirculating back to the VV ECMO circuit.

摘要： A blood treatment system includes (i) a blood pump including a first blood pump chamber operable with a first inlet valve and a first outlet valve, and a second blood pump chamber operable with a second inlet valve and a second outlet valve; (ii) an arterial blood line; (iii) a dialyzer placed in fluid communication with the arterial blood line, wherein the blood pump is provided along the arterial blood line upstream of the dialyzer; (iv) a venous blood line extending downstream from the dialyzer; and (v) a processor configured to sequence the first and second blood pump chambers so as to achieve a pulsatile pattern of filling the first and second blood pump chambers and an at least substantially constant pattern of discharging blood from the first and second blood pump chambers to the dialyzer.

摘要： An extracorporeal system for lung assist includes a housing which includes a blood flow inlet in fluid connection with a pressurizing stator compartment, a fiber bundle compartment in fluid connection with the pressurizing stator compartment via a flow channel within the housing, and a blood flow outlet in fluid connection with the fiber bundle compartment. An impeller is rotatably positioned within the pressurizing compartment for pressurizing blood entering the pressurizing stator compartment from the blood flow inlet. The system further includes a fiber bundle positioned within the fiber bundle compartment. The fiber bundle includes a plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers. The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers is adapted to permit diffusion of gas between blood and an interior of the hollow gas permeable fibers. The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers is positioned such that blood flows around the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers when flowing through the fiber bundle compartment. The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers extend generally perpendicular to the direction of bulk flow of blood through the fiber bundle compartment from the flow channel to the blood flow outlet. The system further includes a gas inlet in fluid connection with the housing and in fluid connection with inlets of the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers and a gas outlet in fluid connection with the housing and in fluid connection with outlets of the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers.

The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers may extend generally perpendicular to the direction of bulk flow of blood through the housing.

摘要： The present disclosure provides a system for oxygenating blood. The system may include an implantable blood pump that may draw a supply of blood from the circulatory system of a mammalian subject, such as a human being. The blood pump may provide the supply of blood to an adaptor, where the supply of blood may be supplied to either or both of a first branch or second branch. The first branch may lead to an external blood oxygenator. The oxygenator may oxygenate the blood, and the blood may be returned to the circulatory system of the mammalian subject. The second branch may bypass the oxygenator and may connect to the circulatory system of the mammalian subject. In this regard, while the blood is supplied to the second branch, the oxygenator may be disconnected and blood may be prevented from entering the first branch.
