    • A table saw includes a movable rip fence and a base including an upper cutting surface through which a blade extends. The rip fence includes front and rear clamping mechanisms connected to front and rear ends of a casing respectively. The front clamping mechanism includes a frame, a lever pivotably secured to the frame to be pivotal between a locked position and a released position, the lever having an internal cam member, a clamping member pivotably secured to the lever, the clamping member having a hook at an open end, a spring biased shaft, and a C-clip for retaining an inner end of the shaft in the frame. A pivotal movement of both the lever and the clamping member causes the cam member to push the shaft inward until the shaft is pushed outward to urge against the cam member in the locked position.

    • A portable cutting-guidance apparatus is used with a portable, hand-holdable power saw (20) to make an angle-cut in an object at a variably selected angle. A positioning device (300) is positioned motionless against the object being cut. The saw (20) travels on and along a cutting-guide (100) in a straight line. The linear cutting-guide 100 is pivotally connected to the positioning device 300 about a pivot point (400). The linear cutting guide (100) can be adjustably fastened to the positioning means (300) at a variably selected angle. The apparatus is able to be configured to have, as alternatives, either a right-hand and left-hand portable power saw attached for use with the apparatus.

    • A method and apparatus are provided, for positioning a work piece, such as a piece of crown molding, through use of an apparatus including a work piece support plate pivotably attached along a pivot axis to a base. The base is adapted to rest on a horizontal reference plane, such as the table of a meter saw, for pivoting motion of the support plate about the pivot axis to a desired angle with respect to the base, while the pivot axis is simultaneously positioned to extend substantially parallel to a longitudinal line of intersection between a horizontal and a vertical reference plane, established by the table and fence of the meter saw, to hold the work piece at a desired tilt angle with respect to the vertical reference plane, so that the work piece may be cut in substantially the same orientation as it will be mounted.
