摘要： A multi-layer, fluid transmissive structure is provided that comprises first and second fiber layers each comprising a plurality of polymeric fibers bonded to each other at spaced apart contact points. The polymeric fibers of these fiber layers have diameters greater than one micron and collectively define interconnected interstitial spaces providing tortuous fluid flow paths through the first and second fiber layers. The structure also comprises a plurality of nanofibers disposed intermediate at least a portion of the first fiber layer and at least a portion of the second fiber layer.

摘要： A method for joining two carpet segments, each carpet segment having an underside and at least one edge. The method comprises abutting one edge of one carpet segment with one edge of the other carpet segment; positioning a length of seam tape under the abutting edges, and activating the adhesive to secure the seam tape to the undersides of both carpet segments. The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer that is resilient in a transverse direction and an adhesive applied to the base layer. The adhesive may comprise a hot-melt thermoplastic adhesive. The base layer may comprise a resilient textile or fabric, such as cotton denim and elastane.

The method for installing the electroconductive flooring is composed of the steps of laying flooring sheets in mutual contact and cutting joint-forming grooves, or laying the flooring sheets with spaces therebetween for the formation of the joints of the adjacent flooring sheets, softening the electroconductive welding rod, filling the softened electroconductive welding rod into the grooves or the spaces between the flooring sheets, and welding the adjacent flooring sheets to form joints, whereby the flooring sheets are electrically integrated.

摘要： This invention relates to improvements in the method by which elongate frame elements such as the spars in aircraft wings are fastened to the skin panels covering same where these skin panels are of the sandwich type having inner and outer facesheets with a core bonded therebetween, such method consisting of preparing the panel to receive its frame elements by cutting elongate grooves spanwise through the inner facesheet and the core therebeneath while leaving the outer facesheet intact; bridging the gap thus produced in the inner facesheet with one bundle of filaments adhesively bonded thereto, the latter being contained in a woven connector in the form of a strap or band running lengthwise of the groove, and this filament bundle forming an endless strand of yarn that is laid back and forth transversely across the gap in side-by-side parallel rows but which are parted at intervals for the side-by-side lays of at least one other similar yarn strand to pass therebetween in intersecting relation; adhesively-bonding the skin panel core exposed within the groove to one or both sides of the frame element located proximal thereto using two endless strands of yarn laid back and forth to define a pair of intersecting webs arranged in spaced substantially parallel relation to one another that form a part of the connector and pass through the spaces between the first-mentioned yarn strands.

The respective belt ends are sheared to provide complimentary mating faces which are cemented together. Additional cords are placed into such slots and cemented to both sections to provide an integral endless belt.

摘要： A method of welding two plastic surfaces together comprises the steps of: juxtaposing the surfaces, heating the surfaces to a temperature approaching the flashpoint of the plastic surfaces to liquify the surfaces, removing a portion of the liquified surfaces to expose unoxidized surfaces therebeneath and immediately thereafter bringing the unoxidized surfaces into abutment with one another. The heating of the juxtaposed surfaces is accomplished by contacting the surfaces with a heated tool which has been preheated to a temperature approaching the flashpoint of the plastic surfaces. The tool also serves to remove a portion of the liquified surfaces. Various apparatus are disclosed for carrying out the method. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a reciprocating heated tool. In another apparatus, the heated tool is a rotating disc. In yet another apparatus, the heated tool is a continuously circulating band. In yet another embodiment of the invention, the apparatus comprises a hand-held portable, heated tool. Various plastic articles are welded utilizing the method and the apparatus disclosed.
