    • Disclosed is a hydraulic strut mounting assembly including a plurality of chambers formed within a strut mount, in which the chambers are communicated with each other and are filled with hydraulic fluid for supplying a hydraulic pressure, thereby reinforcing capability of a shock absorber and a coil spring and thus further improving a ride quality of a vehicle. The hydraulic strut mounting assembly comprises a strut mount coupled to a shock absorber, a decoupler provided across an interior space of the strut mount, an upper and lower chamber formed in the strut mount by the decoupler, an orifice communicating the upper chamber with the lower chamber, a fluid filled within the lower chamber, and a plunger for pressurizing the fluid in line with the shock absorber when a vibration is generated.

    • A tie-down clip is described which is adapted for retaining the rod of a pressurized suspension unit in a retracted position within the suspension unit cylinder thereby protecting the rod from damage during shipping and handling and also reduces the size of the necessary packaging for the suspension unit. The tie-down clip has a hook-shaped end which engages the cylinder of the suspension unit and a top plate which receives the piston rod and engages a stop formed by the rod to retain the rod from extension. Two embodiments are described having differing shapes of apertures in the tie-down clip top plate.

    • An auxiliary shock absorber assembly for use on a vehicle in combination with the original equipment shock absorbers and vehicle suspension system including a conventional shock absorber of the type having a piston rod extending from end thereof and a built-in return for the piston rod, a shaft extension secured to the depending extended end of the piston rod, a stop member secured to the end of the shaft extension, a second stop member disposed between the shaft extension and the piston rod, and a mounting bracket adapted to be slidably disposed on the shaft extension between the stop members thereon and secured to the suspension system of the vehicle such that when traveling over conventional road conditions, shock absorption is provided solely by the original shock absorbers and the vehicle suspension system with the mounting bracket assembly sliding along the shaft extension of the auxiliary shock absorber assembly with the movement of the vehicle suspension system and, upon encountering an abrupt irregularity in the roadway, the upward movement of the vehicle suspension system and mounting bracket assembly secured thereto causes the mounting bracket assembly to slide upwardly along the shaft extension tube and engage the upper stop member disposed thereon and force the piston rod into the cylinder of the auxiliary shock absorber thereby absorbing the additional shock of the vehicle's tire striking the irregularity in the roadway.

    • A shock and vibration absorbing mounting includes a first retainer member and a second retainer member. These retainer members are mutually coupled together and are spaced apart from one another, and have respective first and second surfaces which oppose one another. A third retainer member is located between the first and second retainer members, and has a third surface which opposes the first surface of the first retainer member and a fourth surface which opposes the second surface of the second retainer member. A first resilient member is provided between the first surface of the first retainer member and the third surface of the third retainer member, and a substantial amount of play is left between the first and the third surfaces of the first and third retainer members. And a second resilient member is provided between the second surface of the second retainer member and the fourth surface of the third retainer member, substantially continuous therebetween with substantially no play being left between the second and the fourth surfaces of the second and third retainer members. Thereby, when two members are to be coupled together, one is fixed to the combination of the first and second retainers, and the other is fixed to the third retainer; and a coupling performance with asymmetrical cushioning effect is provided between them, by the first resilient member being mounted with play while the second resilient member has substantially no play. A suspension for a vehicle is also disclosed utilizing this mounting.
