    • A wiper driven by a motor-driven drive shaft which has a variably-oriented axis and a guiding section of the drive shaft is held between two surfaces of a slide. One of the slide surfaces is carried by a friction plate whose external surface cooperates with a deformable member interposed between the friction plate and a stationary wall of the slide to permit a displacement of the friction plate along a transverse direction perpendicular to the plane of the plate. The formable member acts on the plate, when the guiding section is held in the slide, such that the guiding section rests simultaneously against the two surfaces of the slide.

    • A wiper apparatus includes a wiper blade pivotable between a waiting position and an upwardly turning position. The wiper blade has first and second blade holding members disposed in alignment. Mounted to the first and second blade holding members is a blade rubber for wiping a curved windshield. Each blade holding member has a non-pivotal member and a pivotal member which are disposed in alignment. The pivotal member is pivotally connected via a pin to the non-pivotal member. The blade holding member further includes a twisting member. The twisting member has a sub-arm and a cam connected to the sub-arm. The sub-arm is designed to cause the cam to pivot in such a manner that the pivotal member pivots in a lateral direction of the wiper blade in response to the pivotal movement of the wiper blade. The pivotal movement of the pivotal member twists the blade rubber. The thus twisted blade rubber has its opposite ends disposed on the windshield at right angles thereto. As the wiper blade pivots between the waiting position and the turning position, the opposite ends of the blade rubber maintains a perpendicular relation to the windshield.

    • A windshield wiper system for vehicles with a windshield having a curved surface with a curvature across the width of the vehicle is disclosed, The system comprises at least one driven wiper arm. A wiper blade assembly is mounted on a free end of the wiper arm. The wiper blade assembly defines a longitudinal axis and it is mounted pivotally about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis. An oscillating drive oscillating the wiper arm across the windshield. A pivot drive is connected to said wiper blade assembly and it is adapted for driving the wiper blade assembly in accordance with an oscillatory movement of said wiper arm. The pivot drive includes a cam follower for pivoting the wiper blade assembly relative to said wiper arm and for maintaining a substantially constant attack angle of the wiper blade assembly relative to the windshield surface during the oscillatory movement of the wiper arm. The cam surface on which the cam follower rides may be defined by the surface of the windshield or by a separately provided cam member.

    • There is disclosed a windshield wiper device for wiping the window glass of an automotive vehicle. The windshield wiper includes: an arm head, a retainer, an arm spring, and a wiper blade. The arm head is adapted to be fixed to the wiper shaft of the vehicle so as to oscillate about an axis of oscillation. The retainer is pivotally connected to the arm head for movement about a pivot axis extending perpendicularly to the axis of oscillation. The arm spring is interposed between the arm head and the retainer member to urge the retainer member toward the window glass upon the fixation of the arm head to the wiper shaft. The arm piece is disposed perpendicularly to the pivot axis and is rotatably connected to the retainer member for movement about the longitudinal axis of the arm piece. The wiper blade is connected to the arm piece so as to be pressed against the window glass by the arm spring upon the fixation of the arm head to the wiper shaft. The wiper blade squeegees the window glass when the arm head is oscillated. The wiper device further includes a mechanism for converting the pivotal movement of the retainer into the rotational movement of the arm piece so that, when the retainer is pivoted about the pivot axis, the wiper blade is turned about the longitudinal axis of the arm piece.
