A universal product dispenser platform accepts a wide range of different sizes and shapes of cartridges storing products to be dispensed. The universal product platform provides support for an actuator for singulating products mounted to the cartridge.

    • Apparatus for handling biscuits comprises a pair of identical devices for separating and holding back advanced supplies of the biscuits, which are arranged in rows, in contiguous, upright relationship, within laterally-spaced supply channels. The rows of biscuits are converted into a single row by a chute which is periodically movable sideways, to a position at the outlet end of one of the channels while the biscuit supply in the other channel is held back by a separating member comprising a "finger" movable towards and upwardly away from the path of the advanced supply of biscuits by a piston and cylinder assembly operable so that, only upward movement of a separating member takes place as positive motion, whereas the downward movement of the member is such that it is free, pausing in its movement if necessary, to make entry into the supply in a yieldable manner.

    • A sequencing drop chute apparatus receives a batch of electrical components and feeds them one at a time to a single line conveyor. The sequencing drop chute apparatus includes a support frame with an inclined surface attached to the support frame. A plurality of walls extend upward from an upper portion of the inclined surface and divide the upper portion of the inclined surface into a plurality of chutes. There is at least one chute for each electrical component of a batch of electrical components. A camshaft is rotatingly mounted upon the frame and includes a plurality of eccentric cams one of which is operably associated with each of the chutes for periodically blocking and periodically opening each of the chutes. The cams are arranged so that the plurality of chutes are opened one at a time thereby permitting the batch of electrical components to pass one at a time through the drop chute apparatus to the conveyor.

    • Embodiments of a product orientor include a turner conveyor that defines conveying plan and direction for a product received thereon and that has an initial orientation relative to the conveying direction. The initial orientation is determined by a vision system that is positioned upstream from the turner conveyor. The product orientor further includes pressure plates that are movable between a retracted configuration and a holding configuration wherein the product is maintained in the predetermined orientation while the turner conveyor is moved from the rectifying orientation to the initial conveying orientation.

    • A rotary log singulator for singulating logs received from an intake station to a downstream discharge station. The apparatus includes at least two longitudinally displaced rotating drums and at least one lifting and separating bar located adjacent to and upstream of the drums. The rotating drums have two perimeter portions defined by two chord stretches joined at an outwardly facing obtuse angle. Logs received by the drums are supported and rotationally transferred within the perimeter portions defined by the chord stretches. The lifting and separating bars are driven by a shaft connected to or synchronized with the shaft which drives the rotating drums and are displaced vertically up and down as the rotating drums rotate. The timing cycle between the lifting and separating bars and rotating drums is such that when the first chord stretch of the perimeter portions of the drums is transverse to the lifting and separating bar, the lifting and separating the bar is in a lower position allowing a log to rest on the chord stretches of the drum. As the drum rotates the log toward the discharge station, the lifting and separating bars move vertically upward to separate the downstream log from other upstream logs and advance the downstream log onto the next perimeter portion of the drum if the center of gravity of the log is downstream of the separating surface of the lifting bar. As the lifting bars move upward, they also serve as a barrier to prevent other upstream logs from reaching the drum, thereby singulating logs. In a preferred embodiment, the lifting and separating bars are horizontally adjustable to enable the apparatus to effectively singulate a wide range of log diameter sizes.
