    • Method and apparatus for prefeeding corrugated boards to a box finishing machine wherein a stack of rectangular boards are moved to a first conveyor with the long dimension of the boards extending transverse to the direction of movement of said first conveyor. The stack is then rotated to place the long dimension of the boards in alignment with the direction of movement of said first conveyor, and then moving the rotated stack to a second conveyor for feeding to a box finishing machine with the long dimension of the boards in alignment with the direction or path of movement of the boards through the box finishing machine. The stack is transferred to the first conveyor from an elevator which contains a supply of boards larger than the stack. Three different types of apparatus are disclosed for rotating the stack. One is a plurality of conveyor belts whose speeds may be varied to rotate the boards. Another is a turntable with a set of belt conveyors and a set of rollers. The third is a vertical chute whose guides rotate the boards as they descend through the chute.

    • A corrugated sheet stacking and feeding apparatus is provided in which stacks of sheets are fed to the unstacking apparatus and are raised to an elevated position in which blocks are progressively removed from the top of the stack and pushed and fed onto an inverting carriage that receives the blocks and pivots the blocks vertically upward and then to an inverted position over a feed conveyor. While the block of sheets are raised to a vertical orientation, alignment elements move inward along the lateral sides to align the lateral edges of the sheets with respect to each other and to laterally shift the block to align the block with a central feed axis. The block then is lowered onto the feed conveyor and moved forward through a shingling gate to feed the sheets progressively in a shingled fashion to a discharge end of the conveyor.

    • A method of separating at least one sheet metal element from the lower end of a stack (4) of apertured sheet metal elements, the separation comprising utilizing in motion phases two tool parts (1, 2), the method comprising:(a) a first motion phase, wherein sheet metal elements become sufficiently shifted by translation and/or rotation relative to one another at a separation plane of the stack that those elements do not inter-engage at their apertures; and(b) a second motion phase, wherein below the plane, the shifted sheet metal element(s) is(are) lowered from the plane, this lowering being such that in a third motion phase, those lowered element(s) will become completely separated from the rest of the stack by being further shifted sideways; wherein in the method:(i) sheet metal elements to be separated are gravitationally lowerable; and(ii) sheet metal element(s) remaining in the stack during the second motion phase is(are) held by support provided at the bottom surface of the remaining stack.
