摘要： In one aspect, various embodiments of the present invention are directed to a rotary braiding machine capable of braiding wire around a cable, hose, mandrel, or other similar item, having an improved actuator arm mechanism that is simpler than those found in conventionally available rotary braiding systems and includes a mechanism for fine-tuning of the dwell timing of the transfer arms. In another aspect, one or more embodiment of the present invention is directed to a method for controlling the dwell timing of a transfer arm in a rotary braiding machine by adjusting the length of the actuator arm mechanism.

摘要： A braiding machine and methods of braiding are described. The braiding machine includes first and second annular members having inclined surfaces, the second annular member being concentric with the first annular member. The inclined surfaces are inclined at a non-zero angle formed between an axis of the outer ring and a horizontal axis that lies perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the mandrel. Each of the annular members has a plurality of tubular guide wires slideably mounted thereon and a plurality of wires extend from the mandrel through each of the tubular wire guides. One of the first and second annular members rotates circumferentially relative to the other. The first plurality of tubular wire guides slides radially inward so as to align with the second annular member, and the second plurality of tubular wire guides slides radially outward so as to align with the first annular member.

摘要： A tubular braid and mechanisms for forming the braid are described. The mechanism for braiding includes a disc, a mandrel, a plurality of catch mechanisms, and a plurality of actuators. The disc defines a plane and a circumferential edge. The mandrel extends from a center of the disc and is adapted to hold a plurality of filaments extending radially from the mandrel toward the circumferential edge of the disc. The plurality of catch mechanisms are positioned circumferentially around the edge of the disc and are adapted to engage a filament. The plurality of actuators are configured to move relative to one another and are adapted to move the plurality of catch mechanisms in a substantially radial direction relative to the circumferential edge of the disc.

Each carrier includes a plurality of shelters. Spool-less strands of microfiber are retained in shuttles that are movable between the first and second shelters under magnetic forces. The microbraid structure is fabricated as the shuttles move between the first shelters, and as the first carrier member moves relative to the second carrier member.

摘要： A braiding-machine strand-guide arm has an outer end provided with a strand guide and an inner end formed as a pivot eye. The arm further has a body formed of spaced-apart outer layers of a hard material and a very low-density mass between the outer layers. The outer layers are formed of a plastic laminate reinforced with fibers of carbon, glass, boron, or metal. Whisker fibers can also be used as reinforcement. Preferably the laminate includes textile reinforcement. Alternately the hard material of the shell of the arm can be made of cast metal. The low-density mass is normally a solid material. It is a foamed plastic, typically a light polyurethane foam.

摘要： A drive mechanism for driving one or a plurality of displaceable elements around a closed path, such as a circle, constituted by a linear induction actuator associated with means for constraining the displaceable elements to move in the closed path. A capacitive feedback control system determines the position of the element or elements around the path and controls the windings of the linear induction actuator in dependence on an error signal generated therefrom. An open path drive mechanism having a plurality of linear induction actuators and a capacitive feedback control system is also encompassed by the invention as are hybrid linear induction motors using sets of arcuate linear induction actuators around the rim of a reaction member which drives an output shaft of the motor.
