    • An automated child safety unlocking system for automobiles which disengages the child safety locks and unlocks the doors at appropriate times during events such as vehicle crashes. The vehicle ECU continually monitors the status of the vehicle to check if a crash event has occurred via various methods such as the status of airbag deployment, accelerometers placed in the car, and crumple points. In the event of a crash the vehicle ECU transmits one of at least two CSL command signals a child safety lock ECU. The command signals are each specific to an event severity and event type, and the child safety lock ECU then interprets the signal and acts according to the signal type. If the data interpreted indicates a crash, the child safety lock ECU unlocks the child safety locks, and if it does not determine a crash has not occurred, the locks remain engaged.

    • A vehicle panel handle assembly including a handle lever that rotates around a first rotation axis between a resting position where the panel is closed and an opening position where the panel is open is disclosed. A latch lever cooperates with the handle lever for opening the panel when the handle lever rotates around the first rotation axis for reaching the opening position. The assembly also includes a counterweight for preventing the unwilling rotation of the handle lever, the counterweight rotating around a third rotation axis between rest position in which the latch lever is prevented from rotating due to the handle and counterweight mass balancing, and a unrest position wherein the latch lever is not prevented from rotating. An inertial mass takes a blocking position by cooperating with at least a part of the latch lever and a rest position by being taken away from the latch lever.

    • A lock with a locking mechanism includes a rotary catch and a pawl for engaging the rotary catch, and a releasing lever for opening or releasing the locking mechanism. The lock may include a blocking lever capable of blocking the pawl if the latter is located in its catching position. If the releasing lever is actuated, the pawl or the blocking lever is thereby moved out of its blocking position if the releasing lever is not excessively accelerated. If excessively large accelerations of the releasing lever occur, as can be caused by a crash, then an arresting device of the lock prevents the releasing lever from being able to move the pawl or the blocking lever out of its blocking or latching position, respectively. The lock is therefore incapable of opening if the releasing lever is accelerated in the event of a crash.
