摘要： A method of controlling an air intake flow in a rotary engine having primary and secondary inlet ports, including positioning the secondary inlet port rearwardly of the primary inlet port and forwardly of the exhaust port along a direction of a revolution of the rotor, providing independently closable communications between an air source and the primary and secondary inlet ports, and controlling air intake flows between the air source and the primary and secondary inlet ports. Controlling air intake flows includes simultaneously allowing the air intake flow between the primary inlet port and the air source and between the secondary inlet port and the air source. Exhaust gases of the engine are purged with the air intake flow of the secondary inlet port. A rotary engine is also discussed.

摘要： A rotary engine that includes at least two sets of baffles that are arranged between a cylinder body and a rotor, and are in seal fit with the inner wall of the cylinder body to form at least two sealed cavities in the cylinder body; at least one set of the baffle is a movable baffle, and can rotate around the center of the cylinder body; a one-way rotation mechanism is arranged between the movable baffle and the rotor, and drives the rotor to rotate in one direction. The rotary engine has the benefits that the sealed cavities are formed by the movable baffle and the cylinder body; four working strokes including air suction, compression, ignition and exhaust are carried out in each sealed cavity; the movable baffle rotates under acting and counter-acting forces, drives the one-way rotation mechanism to rotate, and then drives the rotor to rotate.

The rotor is configured to rotate about a rotation axis and includes a plurality of plate-like wings that are radially displaceable. The curved ring surrounds the rotor and delimits a movement path of the wings. Each pair of adjacent plate-like wings delimits a corresponding operating chamber. The housing surrounds and enables displacement of the curved ring. The spring is positioned between the curved ring and the housing, is pretensioned, and is configured to load the curved ring. The pressure piece is positioned between the spring and the curved ring, and sealingly abuts the housing and the curved ring so as to delimit a first and second pressure chamber from each other. The housing and the curved ring further delimit the first and second pressure chambers.

摘要： Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to apparatuses and methods involving an engine and/or motor having piston lobes that rotate with a drive shaft or shafts, which may be implemented with a toroidal-based engine housing. As may be implemented with some embodiments, an apparatus includes drive shafts having a common axis of rotation, with each drive shaft operable to rotate independently of the other drive shaft. The housing extends around the drive shafts, and defines a sidewall of a chamber having inlet and exhaust ports. Clutch bearings limit rotation of the drive shafts to a common rotational direction. One or more piston lobes are connected to each drive shaft, with each piston lobe being disposed within the chamber and operable to move circumferentially within the chamber about the axis of rotation, with the drive shaft to which it is coupled.

摘要： A concentric rotary fluid machine includes a first body and a second body that are rotatable relative to each other and coaxially arranged one inside the other. A plurality of gates are supported by the second body in gate pockets. Each gate pocket includes: a gate retention recess that receives a gate cylinder of a gate; a gate seal recess that receives a sealing portion of a gate; and an intervening land. The sealing portion is configured to reciprocate up and down within a corresponding gate seal recess while maintaining contact with the recess and the second body. A plurality of lobes on the first body cause the gates to swing about respective swing axes as the first body rotates relative to the second body. The lobes and the lands are configured so that a lobe forms a substantial seal against a land when in mutual radial alignment.
