    • A steam engine of a simple constitution capable of efficiently obtaining mechanical energy not only from a heat source of a high temperature but also from various heat sources in a low-temperature state such as the exhaust heat of an internal combustion engine. The engine comprises a displacement engine 1 having a rotor 13 that rotates, a steam-generating portion 2 arranged thereunder and a condenser 3 arranged thereover. Water heated in the steam-generating portion 2 becomes the steam which is fed into the displacement engine 1, enters into an operation chamber that moves up, rotates the rotor 13 and is, thereafter, fed into the condenser 3 where it is condensed to turn into the condensate. The condensate falls on the rotor 13 on the lower side due to gravity, and is refluxed into the steam-generating portion 2 through the operation chamber that moves downward with rotation of the rotor 13. The steam engine efficiently operates even at low speeds, requires no pump for refluxing the condensate, and is constituted in a compact size.

    • This invention is directed to a novel wave tooth gear having a non-circular pitch curve and uniform wave teeth to create a tighter seal between meshing gears. The non-circular wave tooth gear has a major axis and a minor axis disposed perpendicular to the major axis, wherein the major axis is longer than the minor axis and includes a central hub, a plurality of teeth radially extending from the hub at locations surrounding the hub and a plurality of roots, each root positioned between adjacent teeth at locations surrounding the gear. The teeth include a head portion shaped as an arc segment of a first radius and the roots include a recess shaped as an arc segment of a second radius. The teeth heads are joined to adjacent roots by lines of tangency.

    • A rotary device is described for use in a rotary engine, or a compressor, or turbine, the rotary device comprising two rotors disposed adjacent each other and rotatable about substantially parallel axes of rotation. Each of the rotors has protrusions extending therefrom at regular intervals about the circumference of each to define an open portion of a sealable compression chamber between adjacent protrusions. Each protrusion has two side surfaces and a projecting end surface, wherein the meeting point between each side surface and the projecting end surface defines a tip. The two rotors are arranged such that upon contra rotation of the rotors, a protrusion of one of the rotors engages between a pair of protrusions on the other rotor, and the tips of the engaging rotor are in constant sealing contact with the opposing side surfaces of the pair of protrusions for a predetermined period of time. During the predetermined period of time, a sealed chamber is formed and the volume of the chamber is reduced to a predetermined level by the contra rotation.
