    • A method of selecting between two operation modes in a dual fuel internal combustion engine of the diesel-type is provided. The engine includes a combustion chamber at least partly delimited by a piston, a first fuel supply for a first fuel, the first fuel supply being located in or at the combustion chamber and/or in or at an inlet port thereof, and a second fuel supply for a second fuel. The engine has two different operation modes, both operation modes including the steps of pre-mixing the first fuel in the combustion chamber and/or in the inlet port, compressing the charge containing the first fuel to conditions that allow auto-ignition of the second fuel, performing a first injection of the second fuel into the combustion chamber to initiate auto-ignition of the second fuel, thereby initiating conditions for combustion of the fuel remaining in the combustion chamber after auto-ignition of the second fuel. The first operation mode is distinguished by homogeneous ignition and combustion of the remaining fuel. The second operation mode is distinguished by pre-mixed flame propagation combustion of the remaining fuel. The method includes adjusting the amount of the second fuel injected in the first injection of the second fuel, and/or the timing of the first injection of the second fuel, so as to control the combustion chamber temperature and pressure after auto-ignition of the second fuel such that selection between the first and second operation modes is achieved. A dual fuel internal combustion engine of the diesel-type is also provided.

    • The present invention provides a fuel heating system for preheating a vegetable oil based fuel for use in a diesel engine, said fuel heating system comprising a fuel tank (1), a heating device (3), a heat carrier arrangement (4,6) comprising a liquid heat carrier, and a heat exchanger (6) arranged inside said fuel tank, wherein said heating device is arranged to use vegetable oil based fuel from said fuel tank for heating the heat carrier, said heat carrier arrangement allows transport of hot heat carrier from said heating device to said heat exchanger and transport of cold heat carrier from said heat exchanger back to said heating device, and said heat exchanger is arranged to allow heat transfer from said heat carrier to said vegetable oil based fuel in said fuel tank.

    • Disclosed is a method and corresponding fuel injector for injecting gaseous and liquid fuel into an engine. The method comprises delivering a liquid fuel to a fuel injector, delivering a pressurized gaseous fuel to the fuel injector, entraining the liquid fuel within the gaseous fuel within a chamber of the fuel injector and injecting the gaseous fuel and atomized liquid fuel into the combustion chamber. The liquid fuel can be passed through and dispensed from a needle into a chamber in the injector nozzle where it is entrained in the gaseous fuel during an injection event. The liquid/gas mass ratio is controlled by the needle movement, hydraulic resistances or electronic valves so that the majority of the liquid is injected during the first part of the gas injection. The injector can be used for late cycle direct injection of natural gas, or any number of gaseous fuel blends combined with many liquid fuels such as diesel, biodiesel and DME.
