    • A carburetor valve and limiter cap assembly for limiting adjustment of fuel flow in a carburetor may include a needle valve and a limiter cap. The needle valve may have a tip, a threaded portion, a head having a flange with an outer diameter greater than the rest of the head, and one or more serrations formed on the head. The limiter cap may have a sidewall, a tab extending outwardly from the sidewall, a first cavity having an inner diameter sized for an interference fit with the flange, and at least one driving feature to engage at least one serration so that rotation of the limiter cap causes rotation of the needle valve. The interference fit between the flange and the limiter cap inhibits removal of the limiter cap from the needle valve to prevent undesired adjustment of the needle valves by an end user.

    • A carburetor has an air intake passage, a fuel passage, a fuel nozzle in communication with the fuel passage and having an opening through which fuel flows, a first valve in communication with the air intake passage and being movable between first and second positions, and a second valve in communication with the fuel nozzle and also being movable between first and second positions to vary the effective flow area of the fuel nozzle. The fuel nozzle is preferably carried by a tube fitted sealably in a bore being in communication with the fuel passage. The opening is defined by the tube and is preferably elongated, extending axially with respect to the tube. A needle of the second valve moves axially within the tube to variably obstruct the opening to control fuel flow. Preferably, a method of manufacturing the tube utilizes a circular cutting tool which plunges into the tube cutting a slit as the opening having a sharp peripheral edge for atomizing the fuel.

    • The present invention facilitates increased output, decreased size, and simplified design and manufacture for a carburetor system in which a metering pin, which moves on a throttle valve, controls the fuel flow rate for a single fuel system. A carburetor of the present invention comprises a butterfly-like throttle valve on an air intake pathway with a nearly uniform diameter along its entire length, and a fuel nozzle positioned on the downstream side thereof. A metering pin retained by an actuating member that reciprocates linearly and remains in constant contact with a cam face of a cam member located on a valve stem. Fuel supplied to the air intake pathway from a constant fuel chamber via the fuel nozzle is controlled according to the opening and closing of a throttle. The metering pin by means of a cam controls the volume of the fuel flow rate at a desired stroke set irrespective of the opening and closing movement of the throttle valve.

    • A carburetor which is responsive to an operator controlled throttle includes a fuel metering and dispersion system for optimally mixing a fuel with air in preparation for the injection into the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The carburetor includes a housing with an air-fuel mixing passageway extending vertically therethrough and a fuel dispersion bar transverse to the air-fuel mixing passageway with a plurality of fuel dispersion openings therein for injecting fuel into the air-fuel mixing passageway transverse to the flow of air. A fuel pressure controlled spool valve in the dispersion bar varies the amount by which the fuel dispersion openings are opened in response to the volume of fuel entering the dispersion bar. Venturi plates upstream of the fuel dispersion bar are pivotally attached for variably opening and closing the air-fuel passageway. Throttle valve means are pivotally mounted in the air-fuel mixing passageway adjacent the fuel dispersion openings for variably opening and closing the space between the fuel dispersion openings and the throttle valves. A metering valve assembly is linked to the venturi plates for variably regulating the flow of fuel from a fuel reservoir into the dispersion bar so that the amount of fuel metered into the dispersion bar increases as the space between the venturi plates increases according to a predefined determined metering criteria.

    • A fuel control apparatus in the form of a carburetor which includes a hollow shaft mounted transversely within the carburetor throat with the ends thereof extending externally of the carburetor so that a throttle control lever can be attached to one end while the opposed end threadingly engages a stationary needle valve assembly. A butterfly valve element is affixed to a medial length of the shaft. Ports are provided adjacent to the butterfly and a seat is located between the needle valve and the ports so that as the throttle moves the butterfly valve, the needle valve element is moved toward or away from the seat. A fuel flow passageway is provided through the needle valve and into an annulus formed within the shaft and upstream of the seat so that when the valve element is displaced from the seat fuel can flow therethrough, into the medial portion of the hollow shaft, and through the fuel ports thereof.
