    • A brake disc for providing a braking surface on a rotating body, such as a railway wheel is provided. The brake disc includes a plurality of arcuate segments (126) arranged to form a ring and a plurality of joining elements (38) for connecting the segments to adjacent segments. Each segment includes: an inner side configured to contact a surface of a wheel; an outer side having a braking surface for contacting a braking mechanism; at least one socket (140) on each radial end (142) of the segment (126) for receiving one of the plurality of joining elements (38); and a groove on the inner side of the segment configured to receive a coupling member to form a pivot joint (58) for positioning the segment (126) on the surface of the wheel.

    • The railway vehicle brake disc includes a cylindrical hub, friction ring, and bell-shaped flange connecting the hub with the friction ring. The cylindrical hub defines a central axis and has an axial width and an outer diameter. The surface at the outer diameter defines an outer hub periphery. The friction ring includes two opposed annular members each having an outer braking surface and an inner surface. The annular members are connected to each other by a plurality of fins extending from the inner surface of one annular member to the inner surface of the other annular member. The bell-shaped flange has an inner portion connected to the hub, an outer portion connected to the fins, and a radial portion connecting the inner portion to the outer portion. The hub, friction ring, and bell-shaped flange are formed integrally from a single material.

    • The present specification describes a braking disc comprising a hub member and an annular braking disc member, the hub member being attachable to a wheel and having at least two outwardly extending spokes. The free end region of each spoke is engageable between two lugs provided on a face of the annular braking disc member, the opposite face of the annular braking disc member forming the braking area of the disc. The two lugs have facing profiled surfaces which extend generally radially of the annular braking disc member, part of a spoke engaging the profiled surface of one lug to be retained thereby while part of an intermediate member engages the profiled surface of the other lug to thus be retained thereby. A spring is located between the spoke and said intermediate member to press the spoke and the intermediate member against the respective profiled surfaces and to thus retain the spoke between the lugs, while allowing for radial movement between the spokes and the annular braking disc member.

    • A brake disk for a disk brake mounted on either the axle or wheel of a rail vehicle has on its inner peripheral portion a flange ring provided with parallel annular surfaces which are inclined to a central plane of the disk brake. These inclined surfaces are clamped between an inclined surface on a hub and an inclined surface on a retaining ring. The retainer ring is closely positioned upon the hub but in such a manner that any thermal expansion of the brake disk will enable the flange ring to move unhindered in an oblique radial outward direction while at the same time maintaining the brake disk locked and centered without overstressing the fastening bolts which pass through the hub portion and the retainer ring.
