摘要： A method for the oxidation and sintering of pellets includes the introduction of a first medium into a compartment through an inlet connected to the compartment and the heating of the medium in the inlet through the use of a combustion arrangement. The use of the combustion arrangement includes the ignition of the fuel, the combustion of the fuel, and the transfer of combustion heat to the first medium that is present at the combustion arrangement. In a region in the inlet outside the direct passage of the first medium, the ignition of the fuel, the combustion of the fuel and the transfer of combustion heat to the first medium take place. By the introduction of a second medium into the region in the direct vicinity of the combustion arrangement, the combustion of the fuel and the transfer of combustion heat also to the second medium take place.

摘要： A sintering furnace for sintering an object to be sintered formed of ceramics, fine ceramic materials, etc. to produce a sintered object and a method therefor. An insulating wall (28) and an inner shell (25) define a sintering chamber (16) for sintering an object to be sintered (10). Thermal equilibrium is maintained between the inner shell (25) and the object to be sintered (10), and the object to be sintered (10) is completely pseudo-adiabatically isolated to achieve more uniform and small energy consuming sintering. The thickness of the insulating wall (28) increases gradually from an inlet (20) toward an outlet (21). The object to be sintered (10) is fed by a carriage provided in a sintering furnace from the inlet (20) to the outlet (21) in the sintering chamber (16). Thereby, a temperature distribution corresponding to a plurality of processes can be easily formed in one furnace to sinter continuously the object to be sintered (10) in the furnace.

An input refractory drive unrolls a refractory material from an input refractory roll and feeds the refractory material upon a furnace conveyor of the furnace. An input media drive unrolls the media material from an input media roll and feeds the media material onto the refractory material. An output media drive removes the media material from the refractory material and rolls the media material onto an output media roll. A hanging sensor senses the catenary hang of the media material from the input media roll. A control is connected to the hanging sensor for powering the input and output drives unrolling and rolling the materials in unison with one another and in unison with the movement of the furnace conveyor for maintaining a constant catenary hang of the media material from the input media roll to maintain a constant tension thereon.

摘要： A kiln, useful for sintering basemetal capacitors comprises an inner zone having vertically oriented gas dispersion conduits for the inlet and radial dispersion of gas and vertically oriented electrical heating elements. Each gas dispersion conduit comprises a porous or perforated inner tube for a porous or perforated outer tube concentrically positioned around the inner tube. The annular space between is filled with a porous refractory medium, such as a bulk ceramic fiber. The temperature of the inner zone is controlled by the electrical heating elements. The gas is evenly heated as it passes radially from the inner tube through the porous refractory medium and then through the outer tube. Surrounding the inner zone is a multiplicity of stacks of substantially horizontally-oriented trays on which the material or articles to be sintered or otherwise treated are placed. The circle of stacks of trays is surrounded by an outer heating zone comprising an outer ring of electrical heating elements. The outer heating zone is, in turn, surrounded by an outer wall of porous refractory insulation. The apparatus is enclosed in a water-cooled shell of heat resistant material.

摘要： An improved process for sintering extruded powder shapes comprising drying or calcining an extruded shape in a microwave furnace and rapid sintering the shape in a plasma fired furnace. Alternatively, calcining or drying may take place within a furnace heated by the plasma furnace's exhaust. The process of the invention is especially useful for silicon carbide extruded materials and for tubular shapes. This process significantly reduces sintering times and costs. Use of the process yields a high strength sintered product.
