摘要： Environmental sampling apparatuses, systems, and related methods are provided. The environmental sampling apparatus includes a vial defining an inlet having a first diameter, the vial defining an interior chamber having a second diameter larger than the first diameter. The apparatus further includes one or more adsorbent assemblies disposed within the interior chamber, the adsorbent assembly including a first and a second sampling element, each of the first and second sampling elements including a passivated mesh enclosure respectively receiving a first and a second adsorbent material, the first adsorbent material having a lower adsorbency than the second adsorbent material, and the first adsorbent material being disposed more proximate to the inlet than the second adsorbent material. The apparatus further includes a flow path extending through the inlet and along the longitudinal axis and radially inward with respect to each of the first and second adsorbent materials.

摘要： Sampling systems provide apparatuses for obtaining and assessing the composition of a fluid, typically air. Sampling systems allow industrial hygienists to assess the risks and determine the protective equipment that should be worn by personnel entering a specific environment. In one embodiment, a sampling system comprises a sampling container that draws air into its inner volume and the sampling periods are controlled by an automatic timer valve. The automatic timer valve may comprise a rotating disk or plate that provides fluid communication from the area to be sampled to the inner volume of the sample bag when apertures are aligned with inlet tube.

摘要： A portable scent detection system for moving air from a search area to an animal's nose that can include a hand-held pickup for collecting air from a target area, an air moving unit containing at least one fan, a return hose coupled between the pickup and the air moving unit, and a scent presentation device worn on the animal's head with a one or more presentation ports near the animal's nose. The preferred animal is a dog; however, any animal which can be trained to indicate detection of a target scent can be used. The air moving unit can be double or single. A single unit can contain one fan, while a double unit can contain a second fan. More fans can be added in series or parallel as needed to provide adequate airflow. The pickup device can also optionally contain a fan. The fans can be battery powered using fixed or rechargeable batteries. The battery or batteries can be external or internal to the unit. The air moving unit can be contained in a waist or backpack for ease in use. The scent pickup can also optionally contain a filter to filter out dust or unwanted particles. A system of hoses normally can be run between the pickup device and the air moving unit and between the air moving unit and the scent presentation device. The air moving unit can optionally be located in a widened section of the hoses or hoses.
