    • An aircraft simulating apparatus for helicopter hover simulation comprises a cabin containing in its interior a user interface with operating means adapted for simulating flight controls and at least one seat to accommodate a user in a pilot position to operate the flight controls, a carrying portion for supporting and moving the cabin, and a controller adapted to control-movements of the cabin in accordance with a hover simulation characteristics and dependent on the operation of the operating means for simulating flight controls. The carrying portion is adapted to move the cabin along translational movements in three spatial directions (X, Y, Z) and rotational movements around axes in three spatial directions (X, Y, Z), and includes a self-driven support vehicle adapted to perform movement on a ground surface at least along a forward direction (X′) and around one rotation axis (Z′) for rotating the forward direction (X′), and a robot arm supported by the support vehicle to be moved therewith while holding and supporting the cabin.

    • Sensor independent display characterization system spectrally characterizes a display system to measure radiant power emitted by the display system that displays a video image to a trainee pilot during sensor stimulation. A sensor spectral response for each wavelength produced by the stimulated sensor is determined. A stimulated luminance for each color level of the displayed image or for a range of color levels is computed. A color look up table that maps computed stimulated luminance to a set of stimulating color values is generated. When a trainee pilot looks at the displayed image using a sensor having a sensor response that was used in computing the stimulated luminance, the pilot will see an image that was created by simulated spectral rendering. The displayed image is an accurate, display and sensor independent image that the pilot can see during the real flight.

    • A system and method for simulating side angle radar in an aircraft. The system includes a display, an input device for receiving user input and generating an input signal, an aerial photograph database, a terrain elevation database, and a processing device in signal communication with the display and the input device, the processing device configured to receive the input signal from the input device and produce an image on the display based on the input signal and information contained in the aerial photograph and terrain elevation databases. The method includes receiving input from a user, accessing aerial photograph and digital terrain elevation data based on the received input, and displaying an image that simulates side angle radar (SAR) imagery based on the accessed aerial photograph and terrain elevation data.
