    • A high-strength ignition coil that can prevent distortion arising from pin marks formed on a surface of a core and makes it less likely for insulating resin to be cracked. The coil assembly is housed in a coil case. A casting material is filled into a gap between the coil case and the coil assembly and gaps which the coil assembly has. The coil assembly is comprised of a coil pair including a cylindrical primary coil and a secondary coil disposed concentrically with the primary coil, and a core. The core is fitted into a central space of the coil pair and forms a magnetic path. The core is coated with mold resin. Concave portions of pin marks formed on a mold resin coating by removal of core fixing pins when the mold resin coating is formed are filled with mold resin.

    • An ignition coil is constructed of a center core, a primary coil, a secondary coil, and an outer circumferential core. The center core and the outer circumferential core are connected with each other via a first magnetoresistive member on one axial end side. The center core and the outer circumferential core are connected with each other via a second magnetoresistive member on the other axial end side. A permanent magnet is arranged in an axially central portion of the center core. A magnetic passage is formed of the center core, the permanent magnet, the first magnetoresistive member, the outer circumferential core, and the second magnetoresistive member. Magnetic flux generated by the primary coil is reduced through the first and second magnetoresistive members, and is reverse-biased by the permanent magnet.

    • An ignition coil includes a central core, a primary winding, a spool, a secondary winding, and a case outward of the core, spool, primary winding, and secondary winding. The secondary winding is wound on the spool and includes a high voltage end. The ignition coil also includes a cup formed of a metal material in electrical communication with the high voltage end of the secondary winding and is configured to be contacted by a conductive connector that is suitable for connection to a spark plug. The cup includes a generally cylindrical first sidewall press fit with the case and defining a press fit area at the interface of the first sidewall and the case, a generally cylindrical second sidewall spaced radially from the first sidewall, and an annular space defined between the press fit area and the second sidewall.
