    • An electronic circuit breaker having withstand capability. When the fault current exceeds the required withstand level, the mechanism force trips the circuit breaker. The forces generated by a blow-on contact loop are exerted on the various components of the operating mechanism, including the quick trip latch and secondary latch. As the fault current exceeds the required withstand level, the forces on the operating mechanism exceed the spring force holding together the quick trip latch and secondary latch. These two components rotate as one assembly during a trip operation initiated by energizing the trip coil. In the force trip operation, these two components separate unlatching the mechanism and opening the circuit breaker contacts.

    • The circuit breaker pole or poles comprise a movable contact means with a support carrier movable with respect to the frame between an open position and a closed position and one or more contact fingers movable with respect to the support carrier between a contact position and a retracted position. Electromagnetic compensation means are designed to apply electromagnetic forces on the contact finger or fingers tending to keep the contact finger or fingers in contact with the stationary contact means. Electromagnetic limiting means are designed to apply electromagnetic forces on the contact finger or fingers tending to drive the finger or fingers to their retracted position. The electromagnetic compensation means and the electromagnetic limiting means are such that when the current intensity flowing in the movable contact means is under a threshold called the limiting threshold, the finger or fingers are kept in contact with the stationary contact means, and that above said threshold, the finger or fingers are driven to their retracted position. The resultant of the forces applied by the carrier on the kinematic connecting means when the current intensity flowing in the movable contact means reaches the limiting threshold is under the ultrafast opening threshold.

    • An air circuit interrupter which comprises a first cam driven by the operating handle which, through a charge lever, charges an energy storing spring, a link mechanism for transmitting the stored spring force to a contact operating mechanism, a contact-opening-waiting mechanism for preventing the link mechanism from driving the contact operating mechanism to open when the contact is closed by an action of a spring force of a contacting pressure spring in the contact operating mechanism and an electromagnetic repulsive force acting on a current carrying member due to a current above a predetermined value, and an OFF operating member for opening the contact by releasing the contact-opening-waiting state of the contact-opening-waiting mechanism. The contact-opening-waiting mechanism comprises a second cam connected to the link mechanism and a trip latch having an engaging roller for engaging the second cam and an engaging portion for engaging the OFF operating member. The trip latch is constituted by a roller side latch half member having the engaging roller and an engaging side latch half member having the engaging portion, the half members being pivotally mounted on a common shaft. An elastic member is inserted between the half members so that they are biased away from each other, and the half members of the trip latch are displaced toward each other against the elastic member by the action to release the contact-opening-waiting state to open the contact.
