    • A single phase brushless motor includes a stator and a rotor. The stator includes a stator core and stator windings wound on the stator core. The stator core includes a yoke portion, and first and second pole portions extending inwardly from the yoke portion. An end surface of the first pole portion includes a first arc surface having a first groove. An end surface of the second pole portion includes a second arc surface having a second groove. The first and second arc surfaces are opposed to each other and define a receiving space therebetween. The rotor includes a rotary shaft and permanent magnetic poles fixed to the rotary shaft. The permanent magnetic poles are received in the receiving space. A substantially uniform gap is formed between the first arc surface and the second arc surface and the permanent magnetic poles.

    • A single-phase induction motor includes a stator including a main winding with a first coil (P1a), a second coil (P1b), a third coil (P2a) and a fourth coil (P2b). The first coil and the third coil are manufactured from a first conductive material (2), the second coil and the fourth coil are manufactured from a second conductive material (3), with resistivity other than that of the first conductive material. The first coil and the second coil are arranged at one of the stator poles (P1) and the third coil and the fourth coil are arranged at the opposite pole (P2). The first coil and the fourth coil are electrically connected through a series connection, configuring a first branch (R1). The second coil (P1b) and the third coil (P2a) are electrically connected through a connection in series, configuring a second branch (R2).

    • One disclosed method involves punching winding leg and yoke laminations from a strip, subsequently forming a core yoke section, and forming a core winding leg (or coil core). Thereafter, an excitation coil is supported on the coil core, and the coil core and core yoke are assembled in reoriented relation relative to the relative orientation of the laminations when punched from the original strip. The winding leg laminations are reoriented 180 degrees, about a longitudinally extending axis, so that a first surface of the original strip material which faces one direction, as it is punched from the strip, faces an opposite direction in the winding leg section in a finished motor.The geometrical configuration of the laminations prevent a random location of the winding legs relative to the yoke laminations, yet permits two distinctly different relative lamination orientations. A longitudinal reference line along the winding leg is identified, and keying or interlocking means symmetrical about the reference line are provided, but the winding accommodating portion of the winding leg is asymmetrical about the same reference line. Therefore, two distinct winding window openings may be provided, depending on the orientation of the winding leg.

The main and auxiliary windings are each referred to as including at least first and second coil groups, whether the windings are wound in place, formed as a single coil group and then placed in the slots, formed as two or more groups prior to placement in the slots, or formed by any other suitable method. One of the auxiliary winding coil groups has at least the end turns thereof adjacent one of the core end faces disposed along a first portion of the core and extending along a preselected arcuate region of the core, and a second one of the auxiliary winding coil groups has at least the end turns thereof adjacent the same core end face disposed along the first portion of the core and within the preselected arcuate region. The main winding includes end turns adjacent the auxiliary winding end turns. Preferably, at least the greater part of the main winding end turns adjacent the same above-referred-to core end face extend in the same preselected arcuate region.
