摘要： In described examples, an apparatus includes: a physics cell including: a laser source configured to emit light towards an atomic chamber containing an atomic gas; a photodetector configured to receive emissions from the atomic chamber; and a coil for generating a magnetic field in the atomic chamber; and an electronics circuit, including: a controller circuit coupled to the photodetector output and having control outputs to a digital to analog converter circuit; the digital to analog converter circuit having a coil current output to adjust the magnetic field, a modulation control output to control a modulation of the light, and having an output to control a voltage controlled oscillator; and a radio-frequency output circuit having a voltage controlled oscillator coupled to the output of the digital to analog converter circuit and outputting a radio frequency signal to the laser source in the physics cell.

摘要： A microwave-frequency source at frequency fM comprises: a dual optical-frequency reference source, an electro-optic sideband generator, an optical bandpass filter, an optical detector, a reference oscillator, an electrical circuit, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The sideband generator modulates dual optical reference signals at v2 and v1 to generate sideband signals at v1±n1fM and v2±n2fM. The bandpass filter transmits sideband signals at v1+N1fM and v2−N2fM. The optical detector generates a beat note at (v2−N2fM)−(v1+N1fM). The beat note and a reference oscillator signal are processed by the circuit to generate a loop-filtered error signal to input to the VCO. Output of the VCO at fM drives the sideband generator and forms the microwave-frequency output signal. The resultant frequency division results in reduced phase noise on the microwave-frequency signal.

摘要： A stabilized laser source includes a fiber-ring Brillouin laser that incorporates a circulator for non-reciprocal operation and for launching of a pump optical signal. Most of the pump optical signal is launched in a forward direction and drives Brillouin laser oscillation in the backward direction, a portion of which exits via an optical coupler as the optical output of the laser source. A small fraction of the pump optical signal is launched in the backward direction via the optical coupler, and a fraction of that backward-propagating pump optical signal exits via the optical coupler as an optical feedback signal. A frequency-locking mechanism receives the optical feedback signal and controls the pump optical frequency to maintain resonant propagation of the backward-propagating pump optical signal. A second pump optical signal can be launched in the forward direction to generate a second Brillouin laser oscillation.

摘要： A quantum interference device includes an atomic cell, a light source, a light detector, a package, and a reflective portion. The atomic cell has alkali metal atoms disposed within, and the light source emits light to excite the alkali metal atoms in the atomic cell. The light detector detects light transmitted through the atomic cell. The package defines an internal space and houses at least the light source. The reflective portion is provided between an inner surface of the package and the light source, and has reflectance to an electromagnetic wave having a wavelength of 4 μm, where the reflectance is greater than or equal to 50%.

The second light source device emits a light beam that includes adjustment light beam configured to be circularly polarized in a reverse direction to the resonance light beam pair.
