    • One heuristic for tuning a wireless power transfer device includes monitoring a circuit parameter while sweeping a power source frequency; identifying two frequencies related to local maxima of the circuit parameter values; estimating self-resonant frequency of an electromagnetically coupled device based on the two frequencies; determining a value for a tuning component of the wireless power transfer device such that the device self-resonant frequency equals the estimated coupled device self-resonant frequency; and adjusting the tuning component to the determined value.Another tuning heuristic includes monitoring a circuit parameter while sweeping the power source frequency; identifying two frequencies related to two local maximum for the values of the circuit parameter; determining a desired resonance frequency for the wireless power transfer device based on stored information; and adjusting the tuning component to a value that causes the wireless power transfer device when uncoupled to operate at or near the desired resonance frequency.

The frequency adjustment method includes steps of: dividing a frequency scan section into M scan frequencies; down-converting a signal according to the M scan frequencies to obtain M down-converted signals; performing a correlation calculation operation on the M down-converted signals, respectively, to obtain M correlation results; grouping the M scan frequencies into N frequency groups each containing P selected frequencies, with the P selected frequencies corresponding to P consecutive scan frequencies; performing a group calculation on the N frequency groups, respectively, to obtain N group calculation results; and selecting a target frequency group from the N frequency groups according to the N group calculations results, and obtaining the adjusted oscillation frequency from the target frequency group.

The method and apparatus provide a way to reduce costs by avoiding the expensive solutions employed by the unmodified prior systems. The method and apparatus have all of the abilities of standard wideband signal collection systems. Secondly the method and apparatus are able to automatically, and extremely quickly, control multiple VCO's in a finely coordinated tuning process. Thirdly, the method and apparatus still have very good phase noise performance, even though it has hyper fast tuning speeds. Fourthly, the preferred method and apparatus pipeline the digitization and tuning phases of the collection process. Finally, the method and apparatus provide real-time control logic to accurately synchronize all events and make them work in the specific procedure at their respective specific microseconds in time.

    • The invention relates to a method for automatically finding an AM radio program, by which an AM radio receiver is tuned through in discrete steps, such that, for each set AM frequency, the reception quality at the currently set AM frequency is determined, the field strength of the neighboring frequencies is measured. If a significant field strength is detected at the neighboring frequencies, these are taken into account in determining the overall reception quality, in that the reception quality is reduced by a noise value, and subsequently the overall reception quality is compared with an upper quality limit. If the upper quality limit is exceeded, the program search is interrupted, and the AM radio program with this high overall reception quality is played. This method succeeds in reducing the number of misjudgments of AM radio programs with actually poor quality, and thus improves the reproduction quality of an AM radio receiver.
