    • A media entertainment system including an appliance having an electronic data communications interface, a computer processor operatively connected to an auxiliary source module (ASM), the ASM configured to receive control information from the appliance and to send control information, media metadata, and media files or media streams to the appliance.     • Disclosed is a sliding mechanism for opening and closing a cellular phone. The mechanism includes a main plate, a slider plate slidably connected to the main plate, a first block shaft-rotatably fixed to the main plate, one or more first rod member fixed to the first block, a first resilient member connected to the first block and generating expansion force, a second block shaft-rotatably fixed to the slider plate, one or more second rod member fixed to the second block, a second resilient member connected to the second rod member and generating expansion force, and a connection block placed in the central area of the first and second blocks and supporting the end portions of the first and second resilient members. The connection block slidably connects the first and second rod members with the first and second blocks in such a way that the end portion of the first rod member is directed towards the second block and the end portion of the second rod member is directed towards the first block. The first and second resilient members are formed of a compression spring having a good resiliency and service life, thereby improving reliability of cellular phones.

    • A wireless communication unit of the present invention comprises: an interface portion signally connected to a connector of a main device, the connector being dedicated to a recording-medium; a recording portion performing non-volatile recording; a wireless communication portion performing wireless communication; and a control portion transmitting information to be recorded through the wireless communication portion to an external destination and generating a backup of the information in the recording portion, the information being inputted from the main device to the control portion through the interface portion. Consequently, obtained is a wireless communication unit capable of being readily fitted even to a main device without a general-purpose card connector provided therein, and also capable of preventing important information from being lost even if the wireless communication fail.

    • A portable radiotelephone transmits and receives voice information signals to and from a telephone base station by radio. The radio telephone includes a telephone main body having a key pad section mounted on its outer surface and containing a microphone unit. A speaker housing containing a speaker unit is slidably mounted on the telephone main body. A switching unit located between the telephone body and the speaker housing establishes electrical connection and disconnection between the telephone body and the speaker housing depending upon their relative positions as changed by sliding the speaker unit. Electrical connection is established when the speaker housing is moved in a direction away from the microphone unit located on the telephone main body.
