摘要： A communication apparatus comprises a reception unit that receives a reception signal from a metal cable and extracts reception data; a transmission unit that sends a transmission signal obtained by modulating transmission data with a frequency included in a first frequency band to the metal cable; an interference signal detection unit that detects a signal used in communication using a cable modem, modulated by a frequency included in a second frequency band, and transmitted over the metal cable as an interference signal; and a signal transmission control unit that instructs the transmission unit to modulate transmission data using a frequency included in a third frequency band that does not have any frequency band overlapping the second frequency band when the interference signal is detected and a frequency band overlapping both the first frequency band and the second frequency band exists.

摘要： A head end controller is described. The head end controller controls a plurality of service units in a telecommunications system with a multi-carrier transmission scheme. The head end controller includes a logic circuit that generates control messages for the plurality of service units. Each service unit is assigned to at least one subband of a transmission bandwidth. The head end controller further includes a transceiver that is coupled to a distribution network of the transmission system, wherein the transceiver broadcasts control messages to the plurality of service units. The plurality of service units are configured to use a multiple access scheme to transmit on a radio frequency carrier using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) so that transmissions from the plurality of service unit are received from the distribution network at the transceiver synchronized within an OFDM waveform.

摘要： Systems and methods for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing are provided. In one embodiment, a multi-carrier modem comprises: a receiver configured to de-modulate symbols from at least one of a plurality of spectrally overlapping carrier signals to produce a receiver output; a transmitter configured to modulate symbols onto at least one of a plurality of the spectrally overlapping carrier signals; a processor coupled to the transmitter, wherein the processor outputs data for transmission by the transmitter, wherein the processor applies an inverse Fourier transform to the data transmitted by the transmitter; the processor coupled to the receiver, wherein the processor applies a Fourier transform to the receiver output; and a controller programmed to instruct the transmitter to transmit at least one symbol representing a request for bandwidth allocation on a first carrier; wherein the controller is further programmed to determine when a collision has occurred on the first carrier.

摘要： An apparatus and method are presented to allow the extension of a DOCSIS cable modem service over a wireless link. According to the invention a wireless hub transceiver is connected to a distribution coax cable of a DOCSIS based system. The downstream data are transferred over a wireless link to a remote subscriber radio frequency (RF) unit connected to a cable modem that provides the downstream data to the subscriber. Similarly, upstream data are sent from the subscriber cable modem over the wireless link to the wireless hub transceiver where such data are inserted back to the distribution coax cable.
