    • A data transmitter for transmitting a data packet to a data receiver via a communication channel includes a generator for generating the data packet and a transmitter for transmitting the data packet. The generator for generating the data packet is configured to generate a data packet having a first data block and a second data block and a predefined first reference sequence and second reference sequence for synchronizing the data receiver, wherein the first reference sequence is longer than the second reference sequence, and wherein in the data packet, the second data block is located between the first reference sequence and the second reference sequence, and the first reference sequence is located between the first data block and the second data block. The transmitter for transmitting the data packet is configured to transmit the data packet to the data receiver via the communication channel.

    • Determining a frequency offset of a received signal utilizing two or more multipath components of the received signal is provided herein. By way of example, the received signal can be correlated with a synchronization sequence in a time domain or a frequency domain, resulting in separation of the two or more multipath components of the received signal. Analysis of at least one of the multipath components can provide a frequency offset of the received signal. Furthermore, by analyzing the multipath components, estimation of the frequency offset can be improved as compared with single-signal analysis techniques.

    • A method is provided for frequency acquisition, particularly for initial frequency acquisition, pursuant to a known synchronization sequence for synchronizing a mobile communications device having a local oscillator with previously known transmit frequencies of a base station that transmit in a known channel raster with defined frequency points within a band, wherein the method includes the steps of determining the inband power of the known synchronization sequence via a sensor by scanning a frequency band, performing coarse determination of the local power maximum of the inband power and, thus, of the received carrier frequency over the scanned frequency band, producing a presumed channel frequency at which the base station is transmitting on the basis of knowledge of the channel raster of the transmit frequencies of the base station, performing fine determination of the received carrier frequency by comparison with the known synchronization sequence, and correcting the frequency deviation of the local oscillator from the transmitted carrier frequency.
