摘要： Techniques for identifying network congestion and adapting network performance to relieve the network congestion are described. As described, a network element such as a switch reports network congestion indicators such as link level control frames to a network controller. The network controller uses the network congestion indicators reported from the network elements to identify congestion points, data traffic, and data flows experiencing congestion at a network level. The network controller then determines optimized control parameters for the network in order to reduce or alleviate the congestion at the congestion points.

The apparatus may receive an indication of traffic to be routed through a multiple stage switch network configured to route the traffic from one or more input ports to one or more output ports according to a type of the traffic. The apparatus may calculate a network resource requirement of the traffic based on the input port(s), output port(s) and type of the traffic. Here, the network resource requirement may be calculated according to an algorithm specific to the type of the traffic, but generalized to any specific route of the traffic through the multiple stage switch network. And the apparatus may assess the traffic based on a comparison of a capacity of the multiple stage switch network, and the network resource requirement of the traffic.

The first and second ndOS programs implement a global networking policy for a plurality of devices executing ndOS programs, the global networking policy including a definition for switching incoming packets through the plurality of devices executing the ndOS programs.

摘要： In a data network congestion control in a virtualized environment is enforced in packet flows to and from virtual machines in a host. A hypervisor and network interface hardware in the host are trusted components. Enforcement comprises estimating congestion states in the data network attributable to respective packet flows, recognizing a new packet that belongs to one of the data packet flows, and using one or more of the trusted components and to make a determination based on the congestion states that the new packet belongs to a congestion-producing packet flow. A congestion-control policy is applied by one or more of the trusted components to the new packet responsively to the determination.

Other switches, systems, methods, and computer program products for providing low latency packet forwarding with guaranteed delivery are described according to more embodiments.
