    • A method implemented in a network element (NE), comprising determining, via a processor of the NE, a channel order for a set of subscriber lines at each of a plurality of subcarriers to equalize data rates of the set of subscriber lines, wherein the set of subscriber lines is coupled to a plurality of remote NEs associated with a plurality of users, determining, via the processor, parameters for a crosstalk mitigation filter for a first subcarrier from the plurality of subcarriers according to channel responses of the set of subscriber lines at the first subcarrier and a first channel order from the channel orders for the first subcarrier, and sending, via a transmitter of the NE, parameters of the crosstalk mitigation filter to facilitate joint processing of data of the plurality of users for crosstalk mitigation.

    • There is provided mitigation of disconnect events in a vectoring based digital subscriber line, DSL, system. A method performed by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer, DSLAM, comprises detecting a loss of signal or disconnect event of a line in a vectored group of DSL lines, the loss of signal or disconnect event causing a negative impact on the DSL system. The method further comprises detecting a change in at least one downstream, DS, crosstalk coefficient of at least one line in said vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining a magnitude of said change. The method further comprises determining where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred by processing precoding coefficients of the vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining, on basis of the determined magnitude and where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred, an action to be performed by the DSLAM so as to mitigate for said negative impact.

    • At least one crosstalk probing sequence out of a set of orthogonal crosstalk probing sequences is assigned to the at least one respective disturber line for modulation at the given carrier frequency of at least one respective sequence of crosstalk probing symbols, and error samples are successively measured by a receiver coupled to the victim line at the given carrier frequency while the at least one sequence of crosstalk probing symbols are being transmitted over the at least one respective disturber line are fed back for crosstalk estimation. The received error samples are next correlated with at least one unassigned crosstalk probing sequence out of the set of orthogonal crosstalk probing sequences for detection of a demapping error in the received error samples.

    • At least one example embodiment discloses a method of determining crosstalk for a joining line in a communication system having a plurality of current active lines. The method includes obtaining a number of disturber lines among the plurality of current active lines, the number of disturber lines being less than a number of the plurality of current active lines, obtaining a pilot matrix, a first dimension of the pilot matrix being based on the number of disturber lines, the pilot matrix representing a sequence of pilots to be transmitted across the plurality of current active lines and the joining line, the first dimension being a number of time instances, the number of time instances being less than the number of the plurality of active lines and determining a crosstalk coupling vector for the joining line based on the pilot matrix.
