At least one communication unit (111, 211; 112, 212) of the access node and of the plurality of remote communication units is configured to operate in full-duplex mode according to a first full-duplex communication profile (OP1) when using a first subset of transmission resources (TSSET1; TONESET1) selected from a whole set of transmission resources available for communication over the at least one transmission medium, and according to a second full-duplex communication profile (OP2) when using a second non-overlapping subset of transmission resources (TSSET2; TONESET2) selected from the whole set of transmission resources. The first full-duplex communication profile includes first downstream and upstream transmit power profiles (PSDDS1, PSDUS1) to achieve first aggregate downstream and upstream data rates (DSMAX1, USMIN1; DSMAX2, USMIN2) over the at least one transmission medium, and the second full-duplex communication profile includes second downstream and upstream transmit power profiles (PSDDS2, PSDUS2) to achieve second aggregate downstream and upstream data rates (USMAX1, DSMIN1; USMAX2, DSMIN2) over the at least one transmission medium distinct from the respective first aggregate downstream and upstream data rates. The present invention also relates to a so-configured full-duplex communication unit.

摘要： A network controller receives link metrics for network links on cables between network devices in a communication network. The link metrics include metrics indicative of crosstalk experienced by network links among the network links on cables. The network controller determines, based at least in part on the link metrics, respective link settings for respective network links among the network links. The link settings are determined to mitigate crosstalk experienced by the respective network links as a result of transmission of signals in at least some of the network links at baud rates that correspond to bandwidths that exceed maximum bandwidth ratings of respective cables of the corresponding ones of the network links. The network controller causes configuration of the respective network links based on the link settings to optimize performance across the plurality of network links in the communication network.

Specifically, the methods and systems relate to isolation and compensation techniques for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors for use with high-speed data cabling. A frame can be configured to receive a number of connectors. Shield structures may be positioned to isolate at least a subset of the connectors from one another. The connectors can be positioned to move at least a subset of the connectors away from alignment with a common plane. A signal compensator may be configured to adjust a data signal to compensate for alien crosstalk. The connectors are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, minimizing alien crosstalk.

According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method is implemented where the signals are affected by interference during transmission and each of the communication lines has at least one transmitter and at least one receiver. A model is created of the interference characteristics due to the signals carried on the communication lines. Interference characteristics for a line are determined based on the model and actual signals carried on other communication lines different from the line for which the characteristics are being determined. Actual interference is compensated for on the communication line using the determined interference characteristics.
