    • Methods of printing an image and photo-printing systems using the methods are provided. The methods involve receiving the image from a data storage device and printing the image via a printer, the method including the operations of determining whether a Paper Full printing option in which no space is left on a printing material is selected; when the Paper Full printing option is selected, comparing a ratio of an image to be printed with a ratio of a currently set printing material; and when the ratios of the image and the printing material are different from each other, displaying a print area of the image to be printed on a display panel.The methods of printing the image and photo-printing systems using the methods provide users with an opportunity to check and re-set a print area prior to printing the image, thereby preventing an important part of the image from being cropped due to mismatch between ratios of the image to be printed and the printing material.

    • A method for automatically cropping, rotating, and scaling a scanned image to ensure that a printed copy of the scanned image is the same size as the original, when possible. The method attempts to honor the default or operator designated orientation of the printed image, but will automatically rotate the image if that will eliminate unnecessary image reduction. Optimal orientation and scaling factors are automatically determined based on the target page size and the size and shape of the information of interest in the original image (not the boundaries of the original document). The operator selects a desired printed orientation (or accepts a default orientation) and selects a desired printed paper size (or accepts a default printed paper size). If an image will fit within the printable margins without rotation or cropping, the image is simply printed without modification. If the image will fit without rotation by cropping white space, then white space is cropped. If the image with all white space cropped will still not fit, the image is oriented so that long sides on the cropped image align with long sides on the printed paper. If the cropped and rotated image still does not fit, the cropped image is scaled to fit within the printable margins and the image is oriented so that long sides on the cropped image align with long sides on the printed paper.

    • An image processing apparatus includes an image acquiring portion, a pair generating portion, first through third determination portions, and an image combining portion. The image acquiring portion acquires an image for each page of a booklet. The pair generating portion arranges the images in order of the pages of the booklet, and generates pairs from the arranged images, each pair being a pair of adjacent pages in a spread state of the booklet. The first determination portion determines whether a drawn image is present in a band-like region including a boundary between two images in each of the pairs. The second determination portion determines whether there is drawing continuity between the two images. The third determination portion determines whether the two images have to be combined on the basis of determination results of the first and second determination portions. If so, the image combining portion combines the two images.
