摘要： Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided that determine the merit of a given captured image, and apply an intelligent policy to the uploading of the image. An image may be captured by an image capturing device of a user. A merit score is determined for the captured image. The merit score indicates a predicted value of the captured image to the user. An access policy is assigned to the captured image based on the determined merit score. Access to the captured image is enabled based on the assigned access policy. For instance, the captured image may be deleted, may be automatically uploaded to a server over a fee-free network connection only, may be uploaded to the server over any available network connection, may be uploaded at a reduced image resolution, and/or may be uploaded at full image resolution, depending on the access policy.

摘要： An image information communication apparatus includes a communication unit, a permission unit, and a controller. The communication unit communicates image information with an external device in response to receiving a communication request. The permission unit permits the communication request on the basis of a result of comparison between a total band and an overall band. The total band is obtained by adding a communication band necessary for requested communication in the case where the communication unit receives the communication request and a band being used for other communications. The overall band is obtained by converting an image processing capability of the apparatus into a band. The controller controls the communication unit so as to communicate with the external device for the request permitted by the permission unit.

In this invention, a controller connected to the devices via a 1394 serial bus calculates a band width necessary for data transfer in a specific one of the devices, ensures the first channel corresponding to the band width, and transfers data to the specific device using the first channel. This enables preferential data transfer to the specific device to avoid a decrease in throughput.

摘要： Gracefully forcing two V.34 fax devices to use legacy G3 modulations (e,g., V.21, V.27ter, V.29, V.17) when communicating over a packet network (e.g, voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)network). To force an originating fax terminal 10 and receiving fax terminal 18 to fallback to legacy modulation procedures, transmission of a Call Menu (CM) “FAX” signal 54 transmitted by the originating fax device 10 is suppressed S38 at either the originating VoIP/FoIP gateway 12 or answering VoIP/FoIP gateway 16. The suppression of the CM signal 54 forces the answering V.34 fax device 18 to timeout and fallback to non-V.34 fax modulations S40 as if the calling terminal 10 was not V.34-capable. Likewise, upon detecting the non-V.34 fax signals, the originating V.34 fax device 10 will fallback to non-V.34 fax procedures S42. The two V.34 fax terminals will continue the fax transmission using non-V.34 modulations S44.
