    • In some embodiments, color and contrast enhancement video processing may be done in one shot instead of adjusting one of color and contrast enhancement, then the other, and then going back to the first one to readjust because of the second adjustment. In some embodiments, global lightness adjustment, local contrast enhancement, and saturation enhancement may be done at the same time and in parallel. Lightness adjustment improves visibility of details for generally dark or generally light images without changing intended lighting conditions in the original shot, and is used to enhance the range of color/saturation enhancement. Local contrast enhancement done in parallel improves visual definition of objects and textures and thus local contrast and perceived sharpness.

    • An apparatus and method for adjusting hue in an image processing device are provided. The method includes: setting a rotation angle of hue of each of regions of an image divided into a predetermined number about a central point; calculating coordinates of hue values Cr and Cb of an input pixel to determine in which of the regions the pixel is located; calculating an angle of the pixel in the determined region; calculating a movement angle using rotation angles set for the determined region and an adjacent region, and determining whether interpolation is to be performed to the angle of the pixel based on a difference between the movement angle and the angle of the pixel; and if it is determined that the interpolation is to be performed, calculating an interpolation angle using the movement angle and the angle of the pixel, and moving the pixel by the interpolation angle.

    • A method and apparatus for performing color plane adjustment are provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a set of inputs for receiving a first input value and a second input value in a color space. The apparatus also comprises a color plane adjustment component operative to adjust the first input value and the second input value by amounts that depend on a distance of the first input value and second input value, respectively, from a value of neutral gray in the color space. The apparatus further comprises a set of outputs for outputting the adjusted first and second values. A related method and computer program are disclosed. Other embodiments are disclosed, and each of the embodiments can be used alone or together in combination.

    • What is disclosed is a novel system and method for adjusting the gray balance of a multifunction color marking device in order to change the device's neutral behavior to a desired level of acceptability. The gray balance aim curve is specified by: L*, L*(aim), a*(aim) and b*(aim), where L*(aim)=f1(L*), a*(aim)=f2(L*), and b*(aim)=f3(L*). After receiving the user-modified gray balance aim curve, the target color device constructs a 3-D N×N×N L*a*b* to L*a*b* pre-LUT to reflect the neutral aim change by transforming a neutral axis input of L*, a*=0 and b*=0 to L*(aim), a*(aim) and b*(aim). Colors further away from the neutral axis are shifted by a lesser amount. The pre-LUT is then concatenated with the current color LUT to produce an updated color LUT which is applied to the device to achieve the desired neutral behavior. The gray balance aim curve can also be based upon a pre-determined user preference.
