    • A power-applying module includes a substrate, a voltage transformer, a voltage-applying pattern, a voltage induction pattern, and a protection part. The voltage transformer is disposed on the substrate. The voltage-applying pattern is formed at an end portion of the substrate and is electrically connected to the voltage transformer to apply a driving voltage to a lamp. The voltage induction pattern is formed on the substrate adjacent to the voltage-applying pattern, and is spaced apart from the voltage-applying pattern to sense an induced voltage corresponding to the driving voltage. The induced voltage is induced by the voltage-applying pattern. The protection part detects the induced voltage to control the driving voltage output by the voltage transformer.

    • A ballast including a latching circuit is provided. The ballast includes an inverter circuit for providing an oscillating voltage signal to energize a lamp set, a control circuit for controlling operation of the inverter circuit, and a voltage supply circuit for providing a supply voltage to the control circuit. The ballast also includes a fault detection circuit for detecting a fault condition and a latching circuit connected to the fault detection circuit. The latching circuit is configured to drain the supply voltage and thereby disable the control circuit so that operation of the inverter circuit is discontinued during a fault condition.

The backlight module includes: a control circuit for outputting a driving signal according to an analog adjustment signal or a digital adjustment signal; a driving circuit for outputting a lamp voltage according to the driving signal; a fluorescent lamp set, including a plurality of lamps, for receiving the lamp voltage and thereby generating a lamp current; a lamp feedback circuit c for outputting a feedback signal according to the lamp voltage; and a dynamic protection circuit, for dynamically adjusting a protection command signal according to the analog dimming signal or the digital dimming signal, comparing the protection command signal and the feedback signal and thereby outputting a comparing result signal to the control circuit.

    • A constant voltage dimmable LED (Light Emitting Diode) driver is disclosed that is compatible with all types of dimmers, including conventional phase cut (TRIAC) dimmers, and behaves like a conventional constant voltage driver which can be connected to any size of LED load that has a matching voltage rating. The driver produces a continuous train of pulses for driving the LED load and obtains an averaged measure of the voltage at the AC input for controlling the duty cycle of the continuous train of pulses. Therefore, when the averaged measure of the voltage at the AC input is reduced by a dimmer, the duty cycle reduces, resulting in a dimmed LED. The driver can be created by adding a few components to a conventional wide input range AC-DC converter without or with very little modifications.

    • A method for use in a lamp ballast includes obtaining a measurement signal representative of a voltage at an output of a half-bridge circuit. The half-bridge circuit includes first and second semiconductor switching elements, a resonant circuit connected to the half-bridge circuit, and a snubber capacitance connected in parallel with one of the semiconductor switching elements. The method also includes providing a comparison signal by comparing the measurement signal with a reference value. The method further includes detecting one of a first type of non-zero-voltage switching operation and a second type of non-zero-voltage switching operation based on evaluations of the comparison signal, wherein the evaluations of the comparison signal occurs in each case before the first semiconductor element is switched on and in each case before the second semiconductor element is switched on.

The lamp life state signal is varied along with the difference between the positive duty time interval and the negative duty time interval.

    • A lighting apparatus for a fluorescent tube and a driving method thereof are provided. The lighting apparatus includes a fluorescent tube, an open-loop protection unit and a driving device. The driving device includes an inverter and a power unit. The open-loop protection unit detects and determines an open-loop situation of two nodes of the fluorescent tube to produce an open-loop protection signal. The inverter receives a power voltage to light the fluorescent tube with a dual high-voltage method according to a trigger signal. The power unit coupled to the open-loop protection unit and the inverter provides the power voltage and determines whether to turn off the inverter according to the open-loop protection signal. When the open-loop situation of the fluorescent tube is occurred or driving voltage of the fluorescent tube is greater than a rated operating voltage, the inverter is turned off immediately to avoid components from overheating or burning.
