    • A pump head suitable for use in a fuel pump for a common rail fuel injection system, comprises a pump head housing defining a plunger bore and a pumping chamber. Fuel is pressurized within the pumping chamber by a plunger reciprocating within the plunger bore. The pump head housing includes an inlet valve arrangement for controlling fuel flow into the pumping chamber. The inlet valve arrangement includes a valve member movable between open and closed positions in response to fuel pressure within a gallery. The gallery communicates with an external chamber defined by a closure means externally mounted to the pump head housing. In use, the gallery communicates with a source of low-pressure fuel via the external chamber. The pump head housing has a projection which locates the closure member on the pump head housing.

    • A suction valve including a valve seat and a piston movably joined to the valve seat. The piston has a head for engaging the top surface of the valve seat and a stem extending downwardly from the head through the valve seat. A valve guide is positioned adjacent the bottom surface of the valve seat and slidably receives the stem. A valve keeper is fitted upon the stem such that the valve guide is disposed between the valve seat and the valve keeper. A keeper pin is slidably positioned within a transverse aperture in the stem and abuts the bottom of the valve keeper. A compressed spring is positioned between, and exerts opposing forces upon, the valve guide and the valve keeper so as to normally retain the head of the piston in engagement with the top surface of the valve seat.

    • A valve device includes a housing including a peripheral valve seat extended into a chamber, to separate the chamber into two separated spaces. A valve member includes an outer peripheral groove to receive a sealing ring for engaging with the peripheral valve seat of the housing, to make a seal between the valve member and the peripheral valve seat, and a casing is secured to the valve member. A spring member may bias the casing away from the peripheral valve seat, to force the sealing ring of the valve member against the peripheral valve seat, and to make a fluid tight seal between the valve member and the peripheral valve seat.

    • A check valve comprises a casing having a flange extending circumferentially around the inner periphery of the body. The flange defines a valve aperture for receiving a poppet valve. The poppet valve includes a stem including a plurality of legs each having an outer peripheral surface facing the inner surface of the flange. The outer peripheral surface of the legs having a first section in close proximity to the inner surface of the flange and a second section recessed or cut back from the first section. The second section defines a flow path to allow debris to pass through the valve between the outer peripheral surface and the inner surface of the flange during operation.
