    • A corner computer workcenter is described that includes an arrangement for positioning a CPU of a computer proximate to a monitor, keyboard, and other peripheral devices thereof an at a height with respect to the user that facilitates access to media drives and power switches. In one embodiment, the corner computer workcenter of the present invention includes a first horizontal surface for supporting a computer monitor, a second horizontal surface comprising a work surface located in front of and beneath the first surface, and a third horizontal surface located below the work surface for supporting a computer keyboard and other input devices. A shelf, the vertical height of which may be adjustable, is included for positioning a CPU of the computer just below the monitor and behind the work surface and keyboard support surface so that cables provided with the computer for connecting the monitor, keyboard, and other input devices to the CPU are of sufficient length to serve their intended purpose. Casters are provided at each side of the bottom, rear of the workcenter to facilitate access to the rear of the CPU and other computer components.

A holding member with a tag member includes a holding part having a groove for engaging with an upper end part of a chassis and a projection for engaging in an opening of the chassis, whereby the engaging part is engaged with and held by the upper side face and the opening of the chassis with high precision. The tag member is provided at a higher position than the upper end part of the chassis, and a distance from the outer cover can be set optionally. The holding member is held at the side face part of the chassis and covered with the outer cover, therefore the member can be held inside the commodity product.

    • A hardened Operator Interface Terminal (OIT) in an environmentally harsh area interfaces with computer components such as a control computer and a computer monitor in a controlled environment that is separated from the harsh environment by a wall or door. A sealed front panel mounts on the front side of the wall or door, and is exposed to the harsh environment while the computer components mount on shelves that are located on the back side of the wall or door. One of the shelves holds the monitor and is adjustable to align the monitor with a touch screen panel that is sealed in a window in the front panel. The shelves provide easy access to the computer components for service. A pivoting keyboard tray on the front panel holds a keyboard and mouse, and is fully sealed. The OIT is easily disassembled and packaged into a compact size for shipping.

    • A protective enclosure is disclosed that provides protection and energy management for a sensitive or fragile part or device that can be enclosed. The enclosure comprises one or more rigid structural components and one or more soft touch surface components from which one or more ribs originate and pass through the rigid structural component(s) to provide the energy management for the part or device when it is enclosed. The soft touch surface and rib material can be a low modulus, plastic material such as a thermoplastic elastomer and can optionally be foamed to provide further softness for the soft touch surface effect and/or for the energy management needs in the pass through ribs. Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a particularly suitable thermoplastic. It has also been found that the protective enclosure can be designed to utilize the soft touch component to provide a substantially continuous liquid and dust resistant seal for any moveable or removable structural components. Preferably the pass through ribs and the soft touch surface are molded onto the first rigid component(s) by molding them onto the first component using a two shot molding, insert molding or overmolding process.

    • A main board support panel retains a main computer board in a computer enclosure. The main board support panel has a plate for supporting the main board. The plate has a bottom edge and an opposite top edge. Two retaining tabs are formed on the bottom edge. Two offset tabs are formed on a bottom plate of the enclosure and gaps are defined between the offset tabs and the bottom plate of the enclosure for receiving the retaining tabs therein. Two retaining lugs are formed on the top edge of the plate. Each retaining lug has an inclined first edge and an opposite second edge with a recess defined therein. Each retaining lug is inserted between first and second bosses formed on the enclosure by moving the main board support panel in a first direction substantially normal to the panel. The inclined edge of the retaining lug slides along the first boss of the enclosure for guiding and moving the main board support panel with respect to the enclosure in a second direction substantially normal to the first direction whereby the recess engages with the second boss to secure the panel in the enclosure.
