摘要： A handheld wireless communication device having a defibrillator integrated therein to be employed in an emergency situation to supply electrical therapy to a victim who is experiencing cardiac distress. The defibrillator being powered by at least one thermally powered battery contained within the wireless communications device. The wireless communication device may also include a cardiac module which will determine whether the victim's heart beat has become irregular and whether defibrillation is necessary. The wireless communication device will guide the user through the use of the defibrillator/cardiac modules. The wireless device may also include a tracking unit that will provide the user's location and wireless two-way voice communication with emergency personnel upon activation of the defibrillator.

摘要： A device, such as an implantable medical device (IMD), programming device, or other computing device determines when a patient is attempting to sleep. When the device determines that the patient is attempting to sleep, the device determines values for one or more metrics that indicate the quality of a patient's sleep based on at least one physiological parameter of the patient. When the device determines that the patient is not attempting to sleep, the device periodically determines activity levels of the patient. Activity metric values may be determined based on the determined activity levels. A clinician may use sleep quality information and patient activity information presented by a programming device to, for example, evaluate the effectiveness of therapy delivered to the patient by a medical device.

摘要： A medical cart, which includes respiration and cardiac functionality, can readily be transported to a patient. The cart may contain separable respiratory and cardiac units in which the cardiac unit contains one or more items useful in treating cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrest and the respiratory unit contains one or more items useful in treating respiratory emergencies such as a stoppage of breathing. To increase access to the items that the cart carries, parts of the cart, e.g., drawers, which contain items associated with particular medical conditions, may be isolated. As a result, multiple users, who are treating different medical conditions, can access the cart at any given time. A hood may be provided to enclose items, which were placed on top of the cart, while the cart is in transit.

A polarity control between the current source and the electrodes determines the direction of current flow through and between the electrodes. 摘要： This invention described a method of, and device for increasing human ability for idea generation and insight related tasks. “Thinking outside the box” is difficult and often requires a qualitatively different perception of the task at hand. One aspect of the invention is a method for facilitating such pursuits by applying electrical stimulation at selected brain areas before or during an idea generation or insight related task. One aspect of our method is to temporarily enable a person to perceive insight related tasks in a way that is less influenced by past expectations and more open to novel representations. In one embodiment, this is achieved by suppressing the left anterior temporal lobe and/or facilitating the right anterior temporal lobe with non-invasive electrical stimulation.
