摘要： A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.

摘要： Oral treatment devices formed from wax-based compositions that are thermally stable when formed into a three-dimensional shape to a temperature of at least 45° C. and plastically deformable at room temperature (25° C.). The wax-based compositions include a wax fraction homogeneously blended with a polymer fraction. The wax fraction includes at least one wax. The polymer fraction includes at least one polymer selected such that, when the wax and polymer are homogeneously blended together, they yield a wax-based composition having the desired properties of thermal stability and plastic deformability. Oral treatment devices are dimensionally stable to a temperature of at least 40° C. without external support and can be plastically deformed in a user's mouth to become at least partially customized to the size and shape of user's unique dentition and/or an appliance in a user's mouth.

摘要： The diagnosed soft tissue or brain injury component of concussions is generally defined by the symptoms of the temporal lobe manifestations. However, there is an undiagnosed structural fractured component of concussions occurring within the jaw joint complex which is the focus of this invention. A precise imaging technique and the powerful 3D Cone beam scanning technology, together, have revealed fractures in temporal bones of the jaw joint space which supports the temporal lobe of the brain. These fractures are the results of the lower jaw impact forces that cause concussions and this mechanism account for a large percent of the concussions arising in sports and military operations. These fractures have never been considered, diagnosed, or treated in the management of concussions. Fracturing temporal bones in the jaw joint that supports the temporal lobe will certainly produce the symptoms of temporal lobe manifestations. With early detection, these fractures can be more rapidly healed, eliminating many temporal lobe symptoms of concussions. The device of the present invention reduces the risk of the lower jaw impact concussion and temporal bone fractures, while enhancing the ability to speak and orally communicate.
