A mold assembly cap is positionable on the mold assembly and including a sidewall extendable about an outer periphery of the mold assembly at least partially along a height of the mold assembly. The sidewall exhibits a horizontal cross-sectional shape that accommodates a shape of the mold assembly and the sidewall is made of a thermal material that promotes directional solidification of the infiltrated downhole tool during fabrication.

The blade frame segment may be integrated into a blade of a plurality of radially extending blades of an earth-boring tool by forming a body of the earth-boring tool, including the blade, around the blade frame segment.

摘要： An apparatus and method for manufacturing a downhole tool that reduces failures occurring along a bondline between a cemented matrix coupled around a blank. The cemented matrix material is formed from a tungsten carbide powder, a shoulder powder, and a binder material, wherein at least one of the tungsten carbide powder or the shoulder powder is absent of any free tungsten. The blank, which optionally may be coated, is substantially cylindrically shaped and defines a channel extending from a top portion and through a bottom portion of the blank. The absence of free tungsten from at least one of the tungsten carbide powder or the shoulder powder reduces the reaction with iron from the blank, thereby allowing the control and reduction of intermetallic compounds thickness within the bondline.

An annular interfacial boundary present between an underside of the top and/or bottom ledges and their respective adjacent annular surfaces of the integral flange includes a vibration damping interface. The brake rotor derives its vibration-deadening and sound-damping effects from the vibration damping interface through the occurrence of relative frictional contacting movement.

摘要： The bottle mold has dissimilar metal inserts embedded in regions where the bottle mold is most subject to attack by hot glass, such as the neck region and the baffle region, and has a glass contact surface with refined grain size. To fabricate the bottle mold, rough castings are made by pouring cast-iron into a composite mold having dissimilar metal insert blanks fixably positioned therein. The dissimilar metal insert blanks become embedded in the cast-iron matrix to form rough dissimilar metal inserts in the rough casting. The composite mold has regions which are formed by metal chills that are partially embedded in a sand mix. The chills and the exposed surfaces of the rough dissimilar metal inserts define a cavity surface of the rough casting, which is subsequently machined to provide the glass contact surface of the bottle mold. The chills serve to refine the grain size of the cast iron at the glass contact surface. Preferably the dissimilar metal insert blanks have protrusions to assure that they become fixably engaged in the resulting rough casting.
