摘要： In a ribbon cassette which is used in a thermal transfer printer of the present invention, a head insertion section, in which a thermal head is inserted to turn its head up and down, is formed between a first ribbon housing section and a second ribbon housing section and further, a relief groove having a predetermined depth, in which a paper feeding mechanism can be positioned, is formed between the head insertion section and the second ribbon housing section. In the relief groove, an ink ribbon to be taken up around a take-up reel is exposed and, in a cassette mounting section, a ribbon guide section is formed to help the ink ribbon to be taken up around the take-up reel in the state where the ink ribbon exposed to the relief groove of the mounted ribbon cassette is bent toward the lower portion of the relief groove.

摘要： A ribbon mask for use with a impact dot matrix printer is provided. The ribbon mask comprises a head confronting surface and a pair of opposed side plates each positioned on an opposite side of the head confronting surface. An obtuse angle is formed between said head confronting surface each of the opposed side plates. A pair of fitting tabs are also provided. Each fitting tab is positioned on one of the pair of opposed side plates. An acute angle is formed between each of the fitting tabs and a plane parallel to a plane in which the head confronting surface lies. As a result of this construction, when the ribbon mask comes in contact with a sheet of a recording medium, the ribbon mask is deformed so that a portion of the head confronting surface comes into contact with an end of a recording head, which in turn prevents the ribbon mask from interfering with the sheet of the recording medium.

摘要： An ink ribbon cassette has a box-shaped ribbon container for housing an endless ink ribbon and a ribbon protector positioned between a sheet of print paper and the ink ribbon exposed between ribbon guide arms. The ribbon protector is elongate in shape and has a pair of holes defined in the opposite ends thereof and a central hole. The ribbon protector is mounted in position by fitting the end holes thereof over projections on the ribbon guide arms. The ink ribbon cassette also has a pair of holders for preventing the mounted ribbon protector from being detached from the ribbon guide arms. During a printing operation, the ink ribbon is pressed against the sheet by a print head through the central hole in the ribbon protector.
