    • A folding method and device, whereby a tubular wrapping is formed about a product by inserting the product inside a U-shaped pocket together with a sheet of wrapping material, a first lateral portion of which is interposed between the product and a first lateral wall of the pocket, and a second lateral portion of which, opposite the first, is folded outside and beyond the pocket and crosswise to the first lateral portion; the tubular wrapping being closed by moving the first lateral wall of the pocket outwards, simultaneously moving a contrast member onto the first lateral portion, and then folding the second lateral portion, by means of an external folding member, onto the product and so as to overlap the first lateral portion; and the tubular wrapping being fixed inside the pocket by withdrawing the external folding member, simultaneously closing the first lateral wall onto the product, and withdrawing the contrast member (34) from the pocket.

    • In a wrapping apparatus comprising a two-part endless track surrounding a wrapping station, a shuttle for dispensing wrapping medium able to ride around the track and thereby wrap an article in said station, and a track support structure such that at least one part of the track may be moved relative to another part so as to open and close a gap between those parts, a shuttle change may be effected by providing a movable shuttle carrier in the form of a length of track, and means enabling the shuttle carrier to be inserted into and removed from a gap in the track whereby a replacement shuttle may be driven from the carrier onto the track and a spent shuttle may be driven from the track onto the carrier for removal therewith.

    • In the production of packs for stacks (10) of paper handkerchiefs, the problem is to give the cuboid pack an exact shape. Whe a stack of paper handkerchiefs is pushed into a pocket (13) of a folding turret (12), the stack (10) is compressed by a press plate (22) movable up and down in the peripheral direction of the folding turret (12) and, in this compressed form, is pushed into the pocket (13) together with a blank (11). On the opposite side of the folding turret, the virtually finished pack is pushed in the radial direction out of the pocket (13) and onto a push-out platform (48) which moves up and down along the periphery of the folding turret and which is temporarily, in particular during the reception of the pack, in synchronism with the folding turret (12). During a standstill phase of the push-out platform, the pack is transferred from the latter to a discharge conveyor (49).

    • An apparatus for packaging cigarettes includes a magazine 35 for supplying cigarette groups 23 to pockets 71 of a first revolver 66, whereafter they are transferred into foil lined pockets 74 of a second revolver 67 and then into paper lined pockets 91 of a third revolver 68. The revolvers are continuously driven, and the groups are always oriented with their wide front or rear faces outermost in the pockets to implement smooth tangential transfer between the revolvers. A curved stripper and guide bar 94 enters through the sides of the first revolver pockets to transfer the groups to the second revolver. Transfer between the second and third revolvers is made by simultaneously decreasing the radial depth of the second revolver pockets and increasing the radial depth of the third revolver pockets at a transfer station 89.
