An alkyldiphenylmethane compound represented by general formula (1): wherein Y represents —OR19 (wherein R19 represents a hydrogen atom or an active ester-type protecting group), —NHR20 (wherein R20 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 linear or branched alkyl group, or an aralkyl group), isocyanate group, an azide group, or a halogen atom, Z represents a C1-4 linear or branched alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or a cycloalkyl group, at least one of R1 to R10 represents a group represented by formula (2): —O—R11—X-A (2) and the others each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-4 alkyl group, or a C1-4 alkoxy group; R11 represents a C1-16 linear or branched alkylene group; X represents O or CONR21 (wherein R21 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl group); and A represents, for example, a group represented by formula (3): wherein R12, R13, and R14 may be the same or different and each independently represent a C1-6 linear or branched alkyl group or an optionally substituted aryl group; R15 represents a single bond or a C1-3 linear or branched alkylene group; and R16, R17, and R18 each independently represent a C1-3 linear or branched alkylene group.

摘要： Glucose deprivation is an attractive strategy in cancer research and treatment. Cancer cells upregulate glucose uptake and metabolism for maintaining accelerated growth and proliferation rates. Specifically blocking these processes is likely to provide new insights to the role of glucose transport and metabolism in tumorigenesis, as well as in apoptosis. As solid tumors outgrow the surrounding vasculature, they encounter microenvironments with a limited supply of nutrients leading to a glucose deprived environment in some regions of the tumor. Cancer cells living in the glucose deprived environment undergo changes to prevent glucose deprivation-induced apoptosis. Knowing how cancer cells evade apoptosis induction is also likely to yield valuable information and knowledge of how to overcome the resistance to apoptosis induction in cancer cells. Disclosed herein are novel anticancer compounds that inhibit basal glucose transport, resulting in tumor suppression and new methods for the study of glucose deprivation in animal cancer research.

摘要： The present disclosure provides a novel biphenyl derivative compound, an optical isomer thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The biphenyl derivative compound, optical isomer thereof or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof according to the present disclosure may induce cancer cell death by damaging mitochondria and inducing ATP depletion in cells which are in a nutrient-starved state such as a glucose-starved state, which is the normal environment of cancer cells. In addition, it is an Nm23-H1/NDPK activity-increasing substance that may suppress cancer metastasis and growth. Thus, it exhibits excellent effects not only on the prevention, alleviation and treatment of cancer, but also on the suppression of cancer metastasis.
