摘要： A device of the invention comprises piping for carrying liquid such as potable water within a piping network of a building, at least two control valves, a pressure transducer to measure water pressure in the piping, a flowmeter to measure water flow and a controller to control opening and closing of the control valves based on sensed pressure and measured waterflow. The controller has a processor with preprogrammed instructions for controlling conditions under which the control valves are opened and closed by command from said controller. Two programmable modes for control are provided for use in a building under construction; a rough-in operation and a normal water-on operation. Both modes have respective leak prevention logic in the controller enabling automatic operation of the control valves for effective leak prevention. The device may be employed within a communications network in which remote computers and mobile communication devices may observe and/or control operation of the device.

摘要： Methods and systems for homeowner-directed risk mitigation for damage to a property associated with insurance-related events are provided. A smart home controller may analyze data received from a plurality of smart devices disposed on, or proximate to, a property as well as data received from an insurance provider. If it is determined that an actual or potential risk of property damage exists, the smart home controller may transmit an alert to a homeowner detailing the risk. The homeowner may respond to the alert by transmitting an instruction to mitigate or prevent damage associated with the risk back to the smart home controller. Subsequently, the smart home controller may transmit information about the actual or potential risks and any homeowner-directed mitigative actions to an insurance provider. The insurance provider may interpret the transmitted data and perform insurance activities, such as providing discounts and adjusting an insurance policy associated with the property.

摘要： A portable apparatus that can be temporarily attached to plumbing angle stop valves and the like, for the purposes of: (i) providing a controlled supply of water for repair and construction operations in a building; and (ii) testing for leaks in plumbing systems. This invention consists of the following components as depicted in FIGS. 1 through 4. Control unit consists of manifold interconnected with valve. Gauge is mounted into gauge port. Inlet pipe is attached to inlet port via matching threaded ends. Posterior end of inlet hose connects to inlet pipe via supply fitting. Anterior end or inlet hose can be attached onto a plumbing angle stop valve via supply fitting; said fitting has circumferential finger grips to facilitate attachment/removal without tools. Outlet port has outlet pipe mounted via matching threaded ends; said pipe can be fabricated in a straight or curved configuration. Quick-disconnect snap coupler can be installed between inlet pipe and inlet fitting as an alternate connection means. Quick-disconnect snap coupler can also be installed between outlet pipe and outlet fitting as an alternate connection means. To use the device, all components are interconnected as described and valve handle is rotated to the closed position. Supply fitting is attached to outlet of closed stop valve. Opening stop valve pressurizes manifold, allowing plumbing water pressure measurement via the gauge. Opening valve handle allows water to flow through device and exit end fitting. Garden hose or implements can be attached to end fitting to extend range of supplied water or employ task-specific tools.

摘要： In a method of monitoring fluid usage in a fluid system, a proportional control valve is provided, including a valve element operable to control fluid flow from a fluid source to the fluid system. A first pressure upstream of the valve element and a second pressure downstream of the valve element are measured to identify a pressure differential across the valve element. In response to the identified pressure differential, the valve element is adjusted to one of a plurality of flow positions to adjust the pressure differential across the valve element to substantially match a predetermined pressure differential. A flow rate through the proportional control valve is determined based on the first pressure, the second pressure, and the adjusted flow position of the valve element. Based on the determined flow rate over time, an amount of fluid usage in the fluid system is determined.

摘要： By monitoring pressure transients in a liquid within a liquid distribution system using only a single sensor, events such as the opening and closing of valves at specific fixtures are readily detected. The sensor, which can readily be coupled to a faucet bib, transmits an output signal to a computing device. Each such event can be identified by the device based by comparing characteristic features of the pressure transient waveform with previously observed characteristic features for events in the system. These characteristic features, which can include the varying pressure, derivative, and real Cepstrum of the pressure transient waveform, can be used to select a specific fixture where a valve open or close event has occurred. Flow to each fixture and leaks in the system can also be determined from the pressure transient signal. A second sensor disposed at a point disparate from the first sensor provides further event information.

The control device controls replenish shortages by using recirculation water from another source or excess water from an excess water tank, if a determination has been made that there is a shortage of recirculation water in one source, using sensor data.
