    • An adjustable anti-freeze water delivery assembly for connecting with a water main buried in the ground comprises a body section with an inner bore and a water outlet. A water supply section couples to a water main below the ground surface and has an inner bore wherein the body section and supply section are telescopically engaged for delivering water from the water main to the water outlet. A valve mechanism is movable between an open and a closed position to control water flow therethrough. A telescoping control stem extends between the body section and the valve mechanism for opening and closing the valve mechanism. The control stem is operable for telescoping in length when the assembly length is adjusted so that water is contained at a sufficient depth below the ground surface to reduce the possibility of freezing in the assembly.

    • A support system for use in construction or repair of a fire hydrant installation includes a lower bracket and an upper bracket. The upper bracket has an adjustable hydrant riser clamp which is connected to an adjustable hydrant valve casing clamp by an adjustable spacer. The lower bracket also has an adjustable riser clamp connected by a like spacer to an upright bar. Ends of this bar then join a pair of vertically spaced apart adjustable casing clamps. As constructed in an open hole, the hydrant installation includes a hydrant riser that is positively joined to a water main and a valve casing that merely sits with a gravity fit on a hydrant valve located between the main and riser. For use, the lower bracket spacer is placed in an adjustable state allowing its respective clamps to be attached to respective lower ends of the riser and casing. Then, the lower bracket spacer is secured in place. Next, the upper bracket is attached in a like manner to respective upper ends of the riser and casing. With the brackets now secured, back filling of the hole with dirt may begin. During movement of dirt into the hole, the brackets inhibit movement of the valve casing so that the valve casing may provide operational access to the valve.

    • A fire hydrant having a generally elbow-shaped hydrant shoe with an improved interior bowl configuration and an improved hydrant valve for minimizing head or flow loss of the fire hydrant between the inlet opening of the shoe and the outlet nozzle positioned on the upper portion of the hydrant barrel. The interior bowl of the shoe, adjacent its inlet, is provided with a diverging transitional surface of rotation having a generally part frusto conical shape and, adjacent its outlet, is provided with a converging transitional surface of rotation having a generally part frusto conical shape, the transitional surfaces of rotation merging with the shoe's part spherical chamber. The valve element of the hydrant valve is provided with a generally conically shaped converging surface on its downstream side which when open defines with said converging transitional surface of rotation and with a portion of said diverging surface of rotation an annular passage for the flow of fluid through the hydrant shoe into the hydrant barrel, the annular passage varying in radial section from a diverging radial section to a converging radial section.

    • The combination of: an underground valve for a supply line and having an underground actuator through which a state of the valve can be changed to control flow within the supply line; and a conduit assembly embedded in ground material and defining an access passage through which above ground access can be obtained to the valve actuator.
