Thereby, the first point and/or the second point can be arranged outside a plane encompassing the reference object.

The door hardware locating tool further includes a second side wall coupled to the first side wall and extending substantially parallel to the first side wall, a center wall disposed between the first and second side walls, a clamping mechanism operable to clamp a door between the first and second side walls, and an insert at least partially located within the cavity and translatable along the first side wall between a first position and a second position. The insert includes an aperture sized to receive a cutting tool. In the first position, the aperture is located a first backset distance from the center wall, and in the second position, the third aperture is located a second backset distance from the center wall.

At least one pin member includes a cylindrically shaped body and is positioned within a recess drilled into either or both a hinge side and door side of a door. A seating portion extends laterally from the pin member past the door surface. At least one receiving member includes a pin receiving portion and a reduced diameter reinforcing portion and is mounted within a corresponding recess drilled within the door jamb. The recess for the reinforcing portion extends well past the door jamb and through one or more of the vertically extending wall studs of the wall structure surrounding the door frame. According to further embodiments, a restraining assembly is provided on each the hinge side and latch side of the door frame. A method for installing a restraining assembly according to the present invention is also disclosed.

摘要： A door preparation drill jig is usable to prepare a door to receive a lockset provided with through-bolt mounting studs in a main bore provided in the door. The drill jig has a planar body, drill guides, and a cylindrical body. The front surface of the planar body has a portion for the placement of installation instructions and the attachment of a C-clamp. Each drill guide is arranged to receive a drill bit used to drill one of the mounting holes for receiving a mounting stud of the lockset. The cylindrical body has a chamfered edged latch slot which receives a portion of the latch extending into the main bore of the door. Additional tabs appended to the cylindrical body flex to ensue the chamfered edges around the border of the latch slot firmly engage the latch in the main bore and another flexible tab flexes to ensure a tight fit of the jig in the main bore of the door.

摘要： A fixture is used to cut a mortise in a workpiece for a hinge or lock strike plate by employing a pair of spaced saddles. The fixture includes at least one bar connected between the pair of saddles. At least one of the saddles is slide-ably mounted on this bar. Also included is a pair of clamps, each being mounted in a different corresponding one of the saddles to clamp the workpiece. The fixture is used by clamping the saddles on an edge of the door or jamb with the guide bar spanning the saddles. A mortise is routed into the door or jamb using the saddles as a template.
