    • The joint comprises a first end portion to be coupled and shaped like a sort of cup, in which a second portion, shaped like a flange, and to be joined to the first one, is insertable, wherein the second portion is internally occupied for a section by a precision seating recess, for a cylindrical element of highly insulating material, and flush to the inner wall of the conduit. The end of the cylindrical element, facing towards the bottom of the cup, has a radially directed annular projection for the constant separation of the flange from the bottom of the cup, the projection axially and sealingly engaging with an annular gasket, and being provided with a collar for the blocking therein. The gasket is interposed between the side of the flange, facing towards the bottom of the cup, and the cup, and between the inner lateral walls thereof, the gasket being also provided with position blocking teeth, between the outer walls of the flange and the inner walls of the cup there being furthermore placed elements for the electric insulation and the stiffening of the joint.

    • An electrically insulated joint for metal piping having two receiving elements each having an opposing surface and defining a passage therebetween, at least one of the opposing surfaces having a non-recessed portion and a recessed portion that has an outer diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the non-recessed portion; an insulating ring having an outer diameter and being at least partially disposed against the recessed portion; an elastic sealing ring; and at least one leg disposed against the recessed portion to make the insulating ring impermeable to gas to thereby prevent high pressure build-up. The insulating ring is composed of a metal ring and one leg extending radially from the metal ring so that the insulating ring has an outermost diameter, and insulation material of high compression strength lining the insulated ring entirely. The elastic sealing ring has an inner diameter in a non-compressed state greater than the outermost diameter of the insulating ring. The insulating ring and the elastic sealing ring are compressed between the opposing surfaces. The one leg has an inner surface facing the elastic sealing ring and lying substantially in one common plane with the non-recessed portion.

    • The invention is directed to a connector for pipe joints in which inner and outer tubular connecting members are telescopically engaged. The connecting members are secured to one another by a jointing compound which is cast in the tubular passage between the members. A preformed element, normally in the form of an O-ring is fitted at the inner end of the tubular passage to provide means for locating the members relative to each other prior to delivery of the jointing compound. A similar preformed element may be located at the outer end of the tubular passage after delivery of the jointing compound to further stabilize the joint. The jointing compound and the preformed element or elements are each electrically insulating whereby one member is electrically isolated from the other in the connector. The remote ends of the connector would normally be fitted by some other means to spaced ends of pipes to be joined but such ends may themselves constitute the connecting members where a joint is required directly between such pipes. The invention has particular utility in the connection of gas pipelines.
