摘要： An enhanced boiling apparatus includes a substrate having at least one heated region, at least one outer surface, and one or more asymmetric shaped cavities extending into the substrate along the at least one outer surface. Each of the one or more asymmetric shaped cavities has a sidewall which intersects at a corner with a bubble pathway surface with a different slope from the sidewall. Each of the asymmetric shaped cavities is configured to non-gravitationally direct fluid that is moving along the sidewall out along the bubble pathway surface.

摘要： Transition castings are disclosed which comprise a steam tube and a water tube, which are joined together by membranes. A heat transfer fin extends from the membrane and abuts the water tube. The steam tube bends such that an upper end is on one side of the water tube, and a lower end is on an opposite side of the water tube. The transition castings are used in a transition section of a boiler in which the furnace is divided into a lower furnace and an upper furnace. The lower furnace uses water-cooled membrane walls, while the upper furnace uses steam-cooled membrane walls that act as superheating surfaces. The transition casting joins the lower furnace and the upper furnace together.

The steam receiving and the collection manifold chambers are separated by a ceiling panel. A panel bonded to the ceiling panel, the transverse partition panel, and the shroud is provided in the steam receiving chamber.

摘要： A steam generator boiler for generating steam is connected to a supply conduit for supplying water to the boiler with a supply valve for controlling the supply of water through the supply conduit. A heater supplies heat to the boiler for generating steam with a discharge conduit for discharging excess impure water therefrom. A metering device is operatively connected to the supply conduit for regulating the flow of water to the boiler by calculating the amount of water required based on wattage or BTU's generated by the heater. A pressure switch or thermostat is provided for operating the boiler and the supply valve on the supply conduit for supplying water to the boiler to permit water to be added every time the heater is energized. In addition, a heat exchanger is provided for receiving discharged heated water from the steam generator and preheating water supplied to the steam generator.

摘要： An improved method of heating feedwater streams in a steam-to-steam reheating system for turbine generators is disclosed in which a drain cooler is located to receive the reheater drain and pass it in heat exchange relationship with the discharge of the highest pressure feedwater heater. By use of the drain cooler, heat rate improvement is effected on both single stage reheat plants and two-stage reheat plants. Cycle impairment from moisture carryover in the moisture separator/reheater is also reduced.
