    • An imaging system for use with an optical device. The system comprises a lower housing having an input portion and an output portion. An upper housing is coupled to the lower housing and has an optical port. A primary lens is disposed within the lower housing. A secondary lens is disposed within the upper housing. The imaging system also includes a recording device. Light rays from the optical device, representing a visual image, are directed to the input portion and are split by the primary lens into a first image and a second, identical image. The first image is directed to the output portion for viewing. The second image is directed to the secondary lens, deflected by the secondary lens, directed to the optical port, and coupled to the recording device. The recording device generates visual data corresponding to the second image.

    • A proven military combat-type weapon with the stock removed therefrom converted to an improved tactical weapon by addition of retrofit assemblies which include a collapsible and bilaterally pivoting stock, a front stabilization system, and a sighting system. This improved tactical weapon has the characteristics of reduced exposure to enemy fire by allowing the operator to fire while under cover, and increased weapon stability by the utilization of the front stabilizer assembly. Utilizing this invention, the operator is able to shoulder support and fire the weapon with minimal exposure to enemy fire. Furthermore, by exerting force to (leaning against) the weapon stock, the weapon is pinned between the operator and the object (i.e., wall, tree, etc.). The amount of gun movement is reduced and the stability of the weapon is increased over a weapon which is only hand held when the gun is fired.

    • A periscope at the hatchway of a combat vehicle. The hatchway is closed by a hatch that comprises two components. One component is above the other at least when the hatchway is closed. The upper component is positioned over the upper edge of the hatchway and moves parallel to the plane that the hatch slides back and forth in. The lower component moves perpendicular to that plane. The periscope comprises two sections. The lower section is fastened to the vehicle and extends into its interior. The upper section extends through and slides back and forth along with the upper hatch component. The upper and lower periscope sections remain in optical alignment and contact as long as the upper hatch component is in its hatchway-closing position. A dirt-removal brush is secured to at least an area of the lower surface of the upper hatch component that, as long as that hatch component keeps the hatchway closed, is directly upstream of the periscope in the direction the component slides in when it opens the hatchway. The brush's bristles extend down to the roof of the vehicle perpendicular to the component's hatchway-opening direction at least along the circumference of the lower periscope section at the vehicle's roof.

    • "A vehicle and the ballistic shock isolator therefor including a turret, a sensor assembly and a shock isolator isolating the turret from the sensor switch and including upper and lower annular members, a plurality of leaves secured at opposing ends thereof to the annular members, each of the leaves having a corrugated bellows shaped portion in the form of an even number of similarly shaped portions, alternate ones of the similarly shaped portions having an open end in opposing directions, each of the leaves varying in thickness and width in a direction from the upper annular member to the lower annular member. The metal is preferably 4000 series stainless steel. By use of the above described ballistic shock isolator, a tank may be subjected to a severe shock due to collision with a non-penetrating projectile with the CITV sensor assembly being capable of rapid repositioning to substantially identically return to its original position relative to the tank, thereby providing reliable boresight for use in connection with further tank deployment.

    • A periscopic sight is mounted to extend through the wall of protective armor surrounding a gun station. An elevation mirror is exposed to receive light from the direction in which the gun is pointing and to reflect the light along a vertical path extending through the sight. A sealed unitary lens system has a lens axis aligned with the vertical path and conducts the light therethrough to a stationary mirror accessible to the eye of an observer. The sealed unitary lens system has a sufficiently long eye relief to provide an unobstructed image to the observer in spite of the placement of the stationary mirror between the lens system and the observer.
