摘要： A racquet including a frame including a head portion, a handle portion, and a throat portion. The head portion is a tubular structure including inner and outer peripheral walls, each having inner and outer surfaces. The head portion of the racquet being formed of a fiber composite material. The fiber composite material includes a plurality of ply arrangements. Each includes a pair of plies defining first and second angles with respect to a composite axis. A section of the outer peripheral wall from the inner surface to the outer surface includes at least three ply arrangements overlaying each other, and the first and second angles of at least two of the at least three ply arrangements being at least 35 degrees. When the racquet is tested under a racquet torsional stability test, the racquet has an angular deflection of less than 5.5 degrees about a longitudinal axis.

摘要： A tester for evaluating pullout load capacity and bond quality of anchor bolts embedded in concrete includes a Schmidt hammer for measuring a rebound number and an ultrasonic pulse velocity tester for measuring the transit time of a pulse transmitted through concrete surrounding an anchor bolt. The rebound number and the transit time are combined and matched against a database record which identifies the pullout load capacity and the bond quality. The transit time is matched to thresholds of transit times associated with porosity, internal cracking, air voids, and water pockets located around the embedded anchor bolt. The Schmidt hammer is further modified by the incorporation of a digital level for measuring the vertical and horizontal angles of inclination of the plunger with the concrete surface, a guide tube for supporting the plunger, and by using a convex plunger tip for improved registration with anchor bolt head.

摘要： A tennis racquet extending along the longitudinal axis and capable of being tested under a forward/rearward bending test and a torsional stability test includes a frame having a head portion, a handle portion, and a throat portion positioned between the head portion and the handle portion. The head portion forms a hoop that defines a string bed plane. At least the head portion and the throat portion of the racquet are formed at least in part of a fiber composite material. The throat portion includes a pair of throat elements. When the racquet is tested under the forward/rearward bending test, the racquet has a forward/rearward deflection with respect to the longitudinal axis of at least 9.0 mm when measured in a direction that is perpendicular to the string bed plane and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. When the racquet is tested under the torsional stability test, the racquet has an angular deflection of less than 5.5 degrees about the longitudinal axis.

The receiving area is configured and dimensioned to act upon the contours of the ball. A movable member extends into the receiving area and makes contact with the surface of the ball. The movable member is urged by a spring so as to exert a compressing force on the ball. The urging force of the spring is adjustable so as to provide for various testing ranges. The ball thus exerts a resisting force against the movable member. A value of the resisting force is determined when an equilibrium is reached between the compressing force and the resisting force. This value indicates the playability of the ball.

摘要： A method and device are disclosed for the determination of the environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) of polymer articles made from polymers such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers, polycarbonate, polystyrene and blends thereof. The method and device involve the external application of stress to an unstressed test article which has been exposed to a stress cracking agent. The stress is induced by means of a weight located below the horizontal plane of the plastic article. The time between the application of stress and the cracking of the test article is measured to compute a characteristic ESCR parameter and thereby evaluate the environmental stress crack resistance of the article.

摘要： An apparatus and method are disclosed for monitoring, analyzing and quantitating in real time the concentrations of metabolites in serum by analyzing the dialysate solutions which are being equilibrated with the blood via a hemodialyzer. Thus, access to certain metabolically important species is provided without the necessity of blood sampling. The apparatus includes at least one ion-selective electrode coupled with the dialysate effluent stream, and the electrode EMF is converted to dialysate concentrations based on precalibration. The dialysate concentrations, in turn, are related to serum levels by factors governing mass transfer through the dialyzer.
