    • The invention relates to a circuit breaker for electric supply lines, in particular energy lines or battery cables of motor vehicles. Said circuit breaker comprises a first connection element (2) and a second connection element (4), the current path running between the first connection element (2) and the second connection element (4), when the circuit breaker (6) is in a conductive state. The aim of the invention is to provide a cost-effective, fail-safe circuit breaker. To achieve this, the first connection element (2) comprises a cavity (8) and the second connection element (4) is configured from an electrically conductive flat part and the second connection element (4) has a projection (10) that corresponds to the shape of the cavity (8), in such a way that in the conductive state of the circuit breaker (1), the projection (10) rests in the cavity (8) in a non-positive fit.

    • Fluid-based switches and methods for producing the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for producing a switch comprises depositing a first alignment pad on a first substrate, depositing a second alignment pad on a second substrate with a perimeter relief surrounding the second alignment pad, depositing solder on at least one of the alignment pads, depositing a switching fluid on the first substrate, mating the first substrate to the second substrate by aligning the alignment pads and heating the solder, the substrates defining there between a cavity holding the switching fluid, the cavity being sized to allow movement of the switching fluid between first and second states to form a liquid switch, forming a perimeter ring around the liquid switch on at least one of the two substrates, depositing wettable material in the perimeter ring, depositing solder paste containing uncured epoxy on the wettable material in the perimeter ring, and reflowing the solder paste.

    • A snap disc operated thermostat in which the switch body and disc case are free of surfaces which would limit the final assembled position. Variations in the sizes of the component parts are compensated for by partially assembling the device until the switch first closes. This provides a reference point which compensates for component part size variations. The body and case are then moved to a final position of assembly through a predetermined distance arranged to insure proper snap operation of the switch in both opening and closing. Such predetermined distance is selected to compensate for existing ambient temperature during assembly and for the amount of creep between one position of stability and the adjacent position of instability.
