    • A display device that includes an underlying excitation source, a converting layer, and an optical filter layer. The underlying excitation source emits light in a spatial pattern that may or may not be altered in time and has a short wavelength capable of being at least partially absorbed by the overlying converting layer. The converting layer can be a contiguous film or pixels of quantum dots that can be dispersed in a matrix material. This converting layer is capable of absorbing at least a portion of the wavelength(s) of the light from the underlying excitation source and emitting light at one or more different wavelengths. The optical filter layer prevents the residual light from the excitation source that was not absorbed by the converting layer from being emitted by the display device.

    • Provided is an organic light-emitting apparatus which can allow each of a plurality of organic light-emitting elements of different emission colors to emit light under optimum conditions. The organic light-emitting apparatus includes: a substrate; a plurality of organic light-emitting elements of different emission colors disposed on the substrate and each having formed sequentially on the substrate, a first electrode formed independently for each of the plurality of organic light-emitting elements, an organic functional layer, and a light-transmissive second electrode continuously formed extending over the plurality of organic light-emitting elements; a conductive layer formed between the substrate and the first electrode and electrically connected to the second electrode; and an insulating layer formed between the conductive layer and the first electrode, in which the insulating layer is different in at least one of thickness and material for each of the different emission colors.

    • Provided is a display apparatus capable of reducing external light reflection to reduce an amount of glare of the outside, in which a translucent protection member is provided to cover an observation surface side of a display member including an organic EL light-emitting portion, in order to protect the display member. The display apparatus includes the display member with an organic EL light-emitting portion having a pair of electrodes and an organic compound layer provided between the pair of electrodes; and a casing for housing the display member, wherein a protection member is provided in the casing with a gap from the display member, and wherein a phase member and a polarizing member are formed on the protection member such that the polarizing member is located closer to a light extraction side than the phase member.
